Since Moab has been mentioned, where do yall like to stay when yall go out there? Camping is good as long as I can get a shower.

We usually stay at the Archview campground , north of town, or the Ramada, downtown across from Moab Diner. The campground has cabins also.

There is also a Hostel in town that I have thought about trying, if I'm by myself.

I stayed at the Ramada both times I've been. Second time was in July and there was no way I was camping in that heat! :-) (plus I had my daughters with me in the Jeep and they wouldn't camp either)

Downtown at Canyonlands RV park. We haul our shower out there with us.

Thanks for the information. Will look into those places. Been through Moab one time on my way to Bonneville and some thunderstorms were blowing through, so didn't even get a chance to stop and check it out.
Going to try to go out there at the end of May, hopefully before the Memorial crowd gets there.

Yeah Roy figured you would take the toy hauler, that's like cheating or something.

I think eatalottapeaches checked out the Hostel in Moab. I'm just not a hostel kind of guy. If I go a few more weeks unemployed that may change! :-)

Oh no its on a trailer!!

don't be alarmed its only headed to Got Gear today for the first valve check/service. A little early at 25k (26,600 is actual first check) but Kerry isn't that busy so I'm dropping it off to have him tear into her and see if all is in spec. New spark plugs while he is in there. I normally do my own valve checks but after reading many horror stories online of Tenere valve checks gone horribly wrong I decided to put the job on a more qualified individual.

Its a 8 hour job according to Yamaha if the cams have to come out. I suspect they will have to come out. The engine got real quiet up top after the long and very hard run Utah trip back in July. I have a good deal of riding planned for 2014 and need a tip top shape machine.

Trailer queen for the day

I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Christmas. My real adventure starts on Sunday when I ride my KLR from Lake Charles all the way back to Jackson. It should be a long and very chilly ride. But damn, am I looking forward to it!!
