We'll probably be down that way in August or September. Some of it depends on the housing market up here. We will NOT have two mortgages

When does the son start driving again? I know you're about ready for him to drive his own self to deer camp. Of course then he will forget all about hunting and start chasing women and you'll have a whole new set of problems.
Roger that on the two mortgages.

He is 14, but will 15 this spring. He is already starting to be less enthusiastic about hunting, so, yes, when the girl thing happens, I would imagine those days will be less than now.

I might be up for some riding after I get my water heater replaced tomorrow or Wednesday. I've finally gotten all those funerals out the way.

My friend just got a cbr954 (not the best choice for a first bike) he wants to go riding tomorrow. Hopefully I don't witness a deadly crash. I let him practice riding on my xr and I think he realizes it's not as easy as he thought. I know the xr is not comparable but I think he gets the idea to take it careful since the cbr is like 100x the bike the xr is.

Has ever ridden a motorcycle before he rode yours? If not you may want to let him ride your XR for a few weeks before he trashes a brand new bike and possibly himself or others. Does he have a motorcycle license?

No license and no experience. Well probably only go for a really short ride on the back roads of Pocahontas where he lives. When he first started talking about getting it I tried to explain it wasn't that easy especially going straight to a rocket. He thought he was just going to be able to get on it and go. Then I let him ride mine and he figured out quick that it was harder than he thought. After a day of practice in a parking lot we went for a couple quick rides down the back roads of canton and he was grinning from ear to ear after getting to 60 mph. We're going to practice on the xr some more tomorrow before getting on the cbr.

please talk some smarts into him and get him to ride your XR for a few weeks (at lest till he get his motorcycle endorsement), I've seen to many people trash them selves and a new bike doing just what he has done. and even after a few weeks that rocket is going to be to much for him. smartest thing he could do would be to sell it and get something smaller. if it's new beg the dealer to take it back and get a smaller bike.

I hope he's got good gear at lest.

If he doesn't have gear, I have and extra jacket and helmet I might be able to part with cheap.

It's not new... He traded his car for it. I'm trying to talk him into trading me for my car and xr :) I think after our short ride today he will realize it's too much for him (which I've been telling him)

One panicked whiskey throttle on a bike like that, and he might seriously regret it. Or a panicked overagressive brake grab....

Not that you's know anything about that...

Seriously, my DL650 was a little too much bike for me for a while, and it's got what, 65 hp? I nearly launched it into the end of my garage within the first week of having it. Having a ridden a modern liter bike once (ZX-10) and a liter + bike recently, there is no way I would even be around when a n00b gets on one.

Let's hope his guardian angle can fly fast.

Turns out he traded for a 600 instead. The way he's talking he might not keep it.

Quoted because I'm an ass. Those guardian angles are sure important when picking a line for the curves!

I only know about the overagressive braking! I've never whiskey throttled a day in my life....... well maybe once... or twice.... but yah! As the owner of a liter+ bike now, I can still say it's too much bike for me!
