Question why is this 2005 950 ADV so cheap?

I am not the seller, its at a local bike shop for sale.

2005 KTM 950 Adventure, Corbin Seat, Remus Pipes, 2900 Miles. Just had service done,Very Clean Bike $5999

So I checked KBB.com and its says trade in value is around $6000 and the retail value is around $8000....WTF??

What am i missing?

Go see it and you tell us.

If it is a early 2005 (not a 2005.5) then the price is good, but not too good to be actually true. It might be light on farkles such as crash bars, wide pegs, Gobi's hard bags w/mounts, rear rack, etc etc etc. If you throw all that stuff back on the pice of the bike, it will be over $7000 which sounds normal for a 4 year old bike.

2005.5 is a bad year? I'm not really a KTM guy. I am sure this has been talked about ALOT on ADV:)

No it a good year

The 05.5 and up are the ones with all the up date done to them. So there as good as the 950 gets. It sound like some one need the money and is trying to dump it quick. Are maybe you live were no one knows what they are and it wont bring much there.

FWIW

I missed an 04 for $5200 this past week. The bike had about 20K miles if I recall correctly.

I'm waiting for more "high mileage" 950s.

Yes, what he said.

The early 2005's didn't have all the updates so the 2005.5 run 10-15% more on price (from my non-statistical sampling)

I wouldn't overstate that. All years have issues, with certain "fixes" introduced in later years that caused more problems. Regardless of model year, check that all TSBs/recalls have been done. It sounds like a great deal. Unlikely to be a salvage title - this is from a dealer, right?

No racks/luggage, which partly explains the price. But this is still an awesome deal. The bike looks very clean.

Weird on the phone number. Great shop, been there since the 70's. I know all the guys there, so maybe a cell number to the sales guy whos looking to get the commission. I don't think they would take a bike with a salvage title for consignment.

it was also on graigs list....

I inquired about the bike this morning... here's the response.

Michael, Yea I do have it here still. A lot of people asking about it, but no one has bought it yet.
