Rumour has it that the restaurant at Austin might be closed. So tank up on coffee along the way. See tommorrow morning.

Humvee, German Pickle and I were through that way a couple of weeks ago the CO-Op restaurant looked closed. The Gas Station was open.

Breakfast

Maybe we could just meet in Portage for breakfast at say 9am. I haven`t been to Portage for awhile to know where to go. Or is there a place in Mcgreger?

So I had a bit of a scare today, I was worried I wouldnt be able to join you guys tomorrow. I put a new tire on the bike and took it out to the floodway for some mud pit fun, and after a while I find that my clutch isnt engaging.

It was feeling like the rear wheel was breaking loose but it was the clutch slipping when I gave it some gas.

Turns out some mud got wedged so far into the engine area that it was pushing the clutch cable housing out causing the cable to go tight.

So off the bike I get and start pulling mud out from it, all said and done there had to be 40+pounds of river clay jammed in the bike, coating both front fender and packed the rear wheel well and the whole skid plate and undercarriage, I guess it was still a little too wet to ride in the dirt.

That being said I will still be there tomorrow morning.

No, what I need is a proper dirtbike, the KLR swingarm isnt designed to handle mud very well, on the bright side there was so much mud packed in there the entire tread surface has that stupid wax crap worn off so nice grippy tire.

That may be but a stuffed swingarm makes an unhappy tire

Appreciate any tips - Visiting friends cabin few minutes west of Kenora; wife, kids & dog heading up in the Van, me on the KLR (nice, eh? ). Any good detours along the way from Wpg? Preferred routes? (leaving from East St. Paul). Was thinking of Woodridge / sandilands area (never been but heard it's good). Thinking there's probably good stuff closer by -- I think that would add 2 hrs of slab riding. Any ideas appreciated!

How was the ride guys?

I wanted to join you but I have been working 12+ hours a day for the past 11 days and have a house full of out of town guests.

To top it off my wifes sister is in hospital with cancer and is terminal. I think I need a ride bad. Just don't know when I can get the time.

I did order a set of Dunlop 606s in the hopes I will get the opportunity to abuse them this year.
