Hah that's funny! Last weekend I checked out a garage sale in town (La Salle)... guy had a couple old bikes there - mentioned he had a new Honda Fury coming! Small world it is.

Pretty sure I passed BackRoader & Co south of P-la-P yesterday. I figured he was riding the Wings for Warren poker derby in reverse to keep clear of the packs of ponderous pirate ships

I won a water bottle and carabiner key fob for my effort to have the best time (through dint of having the shortest lunch break no doubt). Now I've got something to hang the doo on the bike with

Also ran in to a guy I used to work with, who I've not seen in at least a year. He pilots a Road King, though, so I didn't bother telling him about this place.

That dull but of road from Marquette to Rosser was a good place to test the limits of the bike. Fully tucked in and hunkered down and wrung out, that limit would be a gasping 135kph.

After those antics I'll probably hit reserve today at 300k

Anyone doing the poker run at Winnipeg Harley next weekend?

I'm thinking of picking a day on the weekend to go out to Roseisle and then maybe fart around the Pembina Valley and see what there is to see

Saturday fun

Needed to take a run to Neche to do some U.S. shipping. So I took the GL1200 (with 270km showing on the trip odo) and a jerry can so I could check my range on a tank (22L), and see how the multitude of low fuel warnings worked.

I made it almost to St Agathe on 75 S (308km showing) when I coasted to the side of the road completely dry - no low-fuel warning on gauge, no low-fuel light, nothing (and no reserve setting on petcock).

Filled it from the jerry can. Went to restart - cranked about 10 seconds then battery was dead. Ooops.

Called wife, got her to buy a set of jumper cables (I had none), and come rescue me.

Saw lots of bikers heading south, only one to stop was a guy on a GL1800 from Ontario that was heading for Rapid City. Perhaps they saw me sitting in the shade of the bike, playing Texas Hold Em on the Blackberry, and thinking I didn't look too much like I needed help.

Anyone see me sitting there? So my project now is fixing the low fuel warnings....

Oh heck I KNOW why the battery was dead - it's because it's a 4 year old Chinese battery that has repeatedly been run dry and dead due to malfunctioning stator. Now I have a new alternator so the charging problem is licked, so I can safely put in a new battery without toasting it. Haven't got around to ordering that Odyssey yet.

Normally that old sad battery has been good enough since it starts once the engine turns over about twice... just no good if you need to crank a bit if you've run out of gas :-(

And I guess a bump start is out of the question, given the bike the battery is installed in.
Anyway, glad it's not a concern. :-)

I do believe I may be in on that ride John. Depends I may head out on Friday and try to keep Greg from getting too out of shape. You know he has to ride in the parade the next morning.

So, where would you want to meet at a fashionably late but not really late 8:15 then?

(in the space of 2 days I forgot this was on).

Hi Charlie - I think they just have everything right on Main St, or? Not a big town - makes Morden or Winkler look like the big city in comparison. Might see you guys out there.

Sounds like a good turnout of ADVrs in order for the Rally.
Hope to see you all at the Shown N Shine. I will post information regarding, the camping, supper and events tomorrow evening.

Hey Mark-II, I was riding the little Red Honda, however it was
to the Pony Corral on Grant.

Morning. I went through it yesterday, it looks the same as it did years ago when I worked there. Just a few more businesses.Way more big homes to the south though. Its only a little over an hour away from me.

Weird.... I swore it was a big beemer and a dapper dude in a silver mesh jacket. But then I was concentrating more on cornering than anything else.

As for meet-up Saturday morning - in town or at the southwest corner of St Mary's & Perimeter - doesn't matter to me.

I'll have to text my buddy to see if he's coming down from Stonewall on his stately land barge or not (Road King).

My first trip through Niverville was last summer, and by accident.
