First ride of the season

Rode the bike in to Capitol this afternoon to get a leaky waterpump looked at.

Didn't wanna lose any riding season and wait in Spring.

Good one Humvee.... Not often when you hear about any 'Pegger' riding before March.

Looks like he hasn't logged in since December, be patient, he'll turn up.

Hello!

Anyone in the Winnipeg area have a favourite run they like to do when they've got an hour or two? I've been riding for a year and am trying to find good bike runs to do after work, that sort of thing.

I really enjoy the runs to Lockport, Headingley, and the occasional run around the Perimeter but I'm looking to expand my horizons a bit this coming season.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

There some great short trips in the area, just depends on what you are looking for..... If it's off road, there various locations to access the floodway. Or possibly you may want to check out some of the back roads south and or east of the City.

Just check up on this thread from time to time to see where and when the next adventure is heading.

Seeing as I live near the floodway in the south end, I tend to go south on 59 to the flood way and follow it up as far as I feel like, lately there has been some construction on one of the bridges so you have to cut onto the perimeter for 500m then you can cut back to the flood way.

I can usually end up at spring hill then head back on roads and hit some of the gravel roads between the perimeter and 59, usually finding my way back past tinkertown and that area.

There are no shortage of great places to ride in the south end you just have to be ready to hit dead ends and residential areas that werent there the year before.

A GPS will make you braver but if you are within the perimeter half the fun is just exploring.

Seddons Corner is my favorite area to make an afternoon ride as there are a million routes you can take to get there and a million trails to hit once you are there.

If you prefer some more pavement around Lockport and on River Road.

In all honestly after you get over the initial apprehension of going where you haven't before, you find that its loads of fun to just ride until you find a corner you like and take it, or if its a fork in the road, pick a direction and go.

Side note here, if you go into the flood way be prepared for mud, if it has rained more then a few mm in the past week there will be mud holes you will have to watch for, the stuff is like glue.

I'm in. I won't be riding there though. Just got the new 705 cylinder and piston installed and ran the engine. Woohoo! Yippie!
Plenty more work to do on the bike, and can only get out to St Andrews on weekends, so it'll be a while yet before I'm riding it.

Had the cylinder bored out by the folks at "Outboard Rebore" at Deacons Corner. (Rough finished to 15 thou under, per my instructions.) Then my buddy Richard from Universal Aero Engines did the final honing to take it to spec.
Cheers, and see you Friday.
