Morden Ride

The weekend of our AVD ride is also the weekend of our annual Corn and Apple Festival. There is still lots to do on Sunday. The vendors and the rides are still running. There is a Show and shine in the park. There is a dirt track with races on Sunday afternoon. I think there are mud bog races at the south end of town. There is also a Hare scramble race west of town. My shift at the Elks booth usually is Sunday afternoon so thats where I'll be. If you come to town park at the MTS parking lot. The address is 176, 7th st. It's right accross from Thornview Grocery which is also a Co-op gas station. I live at 404,10th st just a block and ahalf from the Show and Shine in the park. See you all at the ride on the 25th

My buddy Warren (from the Sturgis trip), is interested in the Dr Cool run. Not sure if he can make it just yet, but is tentatively planning on it.

No off-roading, though - he just got his kickstand bracket welded back on to the Road King after that last Steve McQueen stunt he pulled.

Just rolled past 17,000km this morning. It's been an interesting first year to say the least.

I might just need another rear tyre before I put it to bed for the winter.

Though for having 7000k on them, that rear K60 seems no more than half gone. The front could probably pass for new.

Stilll Runnig...

Sorry to say, I won't be around for the DR Cool tide. Mom is passing away in Kelowna, gotta go.
Long expected, so no huge deal.
Take care, will be back soon.

Lee (Whywoman) has my proxy for whatever happens with the DR Cool run.... :-)
Cheers!

Just brought the new ( old) toy home.

Have not even had time to start cleaning the baby Honda. It is a 1967 Honda Super Sport 90. A bike just like this one (it was red) is the first bike with a clutch I rode. Now to find a Honda C110 Cub (50cc) and I would have the first bike I ever rode.
It is in rough shape but I always wanted a project to play with.

Ride safe, it's gotta be tough with that on your mind.

Everyone needs a project, and that looks like a ton of fun.

Looks just like the first clutch bike I ever road also. Only difference was that the one I rode had the leading link front suspension I believe.
Just like this one only black. Advertised as having 6.5 horsepower and the perfect compromise between the 50 and 150 cc bikes and all for a paltry $350

It was my buddies bike and we spent the full summer driving that thing up and down his back lane because we were too young to get a licence. I think it was a 4 spd and the shift was 4 up like a quad.

We spent the first day driving it in first gear only until I had the guts to go to the next gears. It took off like what I thought was a rocket and from that moment on I was hooked on bikes! We drove that bike for many miles and I have been a Honda fan ever since.

Now if they would only build a decent adventure bike!

That era really had a huge impact on many of us.

Same deal for me.....Honda 50 Cub was the first bike (other than a mini bike) that I rode, and the Sport 90 was the first bike with a clutch that I rode. Those experiences are burned into the ol' memory banks forever. Very special!

Wisconsin

Just got back from a very relaxing ride through the back country roads of southwestern Wisconsin. Picked up a rental (so Carla could enjoy the 2 up ride in comfort) and played in the county roads just east of the Mississippi.

A motorcycle gathering in Coon Valley. All sorts of interesting bikes and riders.

We left the crowds for some peaceful riding in the corn fields

Corn, corn and more corn..... but this was different

Amish wagons were a common site on the backroads....had to be careful on the corners....horse poop is slippery!!!

Some of the most pleasant motorcycle roads ever......

And now...
Black HIlls ride in September coming up....
It would be nice to get some of the local adv'ers together for a fall ride in the hills.
We can kick around some dates and stuff at BackRoader's Dr. Cool ride on August 25th (and the forum too if you can't make it).........for me, a 1 day van ride each way (room for 2 KLR's) and 3 or 4 days of riding the hills with Keystone as a home base makes sense.

I once saw a documentary on the history and impact of the Cub. To demo how tough the bike is,they dropped it from a 2 story building and I think it started{it's been a while}.
