I don't know if I've ever thanked Pifflemaster for finding me on the klr650 forum and bringing me here, but this is a great group and it's always a pleasure to get together with all of you.

Also good today was the info and tips I got from the BMW bunch. I don't want to go overboard with farkles, so it's good to know the essentials, plus have some insight into the nature of the beast.

Unfortunately dad took a bit of a spill and had to drop out of the course, with a few scratches to a leg and a foot that is a bit blue and swelling from having a Kawi Eliminator fall on it. He's walking without cursing a blue streak, so probably nothing's broken. He's still planning to re-take the course next spring, but after talking to Bruce (head instructor), he's going to go for the evening classes, which are a bit more spread out and perhaps a bit less manic than the weekend session.

I did tell him that the riding course is the best place to get falling out of your system, though. And if you don't let a low speed drop scare you off, then at least you've learned what it's like.

Pity you didn't bring him (Dad) to "Tech Day"... would have done more to help than any parking lot pavement course...

That said; It was an honour and pleasure to hang and work with all who came to the end of September 2012 Tech Day.
To show my gratitude, (Thanks to all who brought and contributed, I know who you are!) I'll pop in couple of my favourite pics from travels this year...

Strange lands...

Strange people...

And a Big ADV Salute...

To ALL!

Hey, it's going to be a great day for riding gang! Bit of a breeze to keep the dust away, and comfortable temperatures. Looking forward to doubling the population of Graysville today!

Plastic cups?

Hey Brian, I know you are bringing along some extras from yesterday, do you have any extra plastic stuff? cups/utensils, etc? One of the trappings of country living, when you forget something, there is no store close by! If not we will make do!

Mugs?

For coffee drinkers, if people bring their own mugs (and maybe a little water), we could stop halfway somewhere for an instant coffee. I usually bring my little camping stove and a bottle along to make a cup of java (if there is time for a break, and there is interest).

I wish I made it out to one of the ADV MB events this weekend, our group has really expanded in a few years! I did get to meet GSLF and his buddy at Timmies in Selkirk.Ride on.

We [wife and I]thought we would take a way smaller ride, just out to BirdsHill. My first ride since my crash.

A big UP to Mark's dad,for getting back on the bike! My buddies dad dropped his bike 4 times...one day. Everyone falls,I've learned when to let the bike go and just worry about my body[if I have a milli sec].

Great photos John!

We had a great ride out to Graysville today. Thanks to Carl and Deb for hosting and escorting us around their neck of the woods. Beautiful country and day, even if it was a bit breezy at times.

Great food, great people and day.

A complete ADV weekend.

You got some good ones, John. I like the one of Backroader in profile "The Thinker", or, perhaps, Ponderer.

I didn't realize the Ninja had such a similar appearance to the KLR. Your friend's bike looks cute next to yours ;)

The KLR always put me in mind of this guy:

a DOUBLE DITTO on Dave's sentiment...Thank you so very much for your generousity of spirit Deborah and Carl...It was a wonderful day all round...

...

It was good to see the women well represented at this ride...that Deborah sure led us on a spirited chase through hill and dale ...Thanks Deb...

I especially love the handle that Carl coined for Karen - "BurgerGirl" works well...and so does "BurgerQueen"...Now, let's see if Karen will lay claim to either one...

Those of you who missed the ride, I am sorry you were not there - we really are building a nice little community of riders here in Manitoba - I look forward to more group rides next season, and hope if you did not make any this year, that you find a way to join in the fun next year...
