Ta for the candid response, Whyswoman. That's what I was hoping to hear.

Backroader - I rode those damned Buells. My first one shed a bolt big enough to have come out of the swingarm or engine mount (and it was covered with greasy filth, so it could have). The second one had such a crappy clutch I was always stalling it.

Dad's convinced his Kawi had something wrong with the front end. Said it was impossibly heavy to steer or, rather, to center the bar AFTER having negotiated a turn. I had told him to get one of the V-stars, since they're newer and (hopefully) not as beat up (and have crash bars), but for whatever reason he got the Kawi

The only bikes I recognize from last year were 1 or 2 Buells and the Eliminators - everything else was new (they did have the CBRs last year, but we could not ride them, as they were brand new and not yet fitted with crash bars).

Notably absent were the 500cc Suzi sportbikes. Not surprised, really, as that one seemed to be a handful for my classmates who chose it.

Just a thought...
Have him take a tire gauge the next time and check pressures, as a low fromt can cause heavy steering...
Cheers!

Duriung my course

I had one of those Kawi's. Only because everyone got ahold of the bigger bikes ahead of me, and was stuck with it for the whole course. The geometry on the damb thing did make it hard to steer, but worse yet, the fact that I was way too big for the bike made it even worse. Every time I tried to make a tight turn the handle bars would hit my knee so I was forced to take my knee off the tank in order to turn. Of course this was contrary to what they were telling us to do during the course so I was constantly harassed for doing it wrong.

I finally had to prove to them that what they were trying to get me to do was impossible for me on that bike and they turned a blind eye to it afterward. Still passed the test with it though.

Another pic from the last adv group ride

Bent Forks aka Jack shared this excellent pic he took of us near La Riviere during that last Pembina/Tiger Hills ride. Thought I'd share it cropped and appropriately captioned Good memories! Got out for a ride in the country today, but it's getting cool out.

No worries Ron, the KLR has never left me stranded since that Northern ONT ride. Must have had something to do with all that brackish water we drove through. What year was that? 2008? Still an epic ride in my mind!
