Just wondering if any of you here had any riding experiences around San Francisco area. I'm going there in a few weeks and have a free day on Sat. Would like to check out some areas with nice road and view of the ocean.
Thanks a lot.

Cheers Les!

PS. BIG NOTE...
Don't forget that you shouldn't rotate the engine until you've reset the cam chain tensioner....
Tensioner is removed right now, engine at TDC, not messing with it til it's back together.

Oh yeah, I discovered another use for an old doohickey - it's the PERFECT tool for removing the timing and flywheel bolt inspection covers...

Enduro Star Trail Stand

Well, got my Moab tire and the trail stand delivered yesterday.
Got the new TKC mounted.(not in the pics)
Tried out the stand and it worked great in the garage...lifting either wheel off the ground. Hope I never need to try it out on an adventure. Maybe it will be like a rainsuit...if you bring it it won't rain..hehehe

Who's riding on Sunday ? I may be up for a run in the sun... I think Mrs Backroader will join me...

Going to get out on the KLX, hopefully Saturday to test fuel milage and get used to the hanlding off road before heading to Moab. Thought about heading east to Richer and double back on fire road 13, however, there is still 6 inches of snow in the bush...maybe looing for plan "B"...

MacNoob, have you been out on the Brunkild Dike, or is it now been deemed...no power vehicles as is the floodway?

I worked there. Four winters. Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, Fishermans Warf, Pacific Coast Hwy. Get onto any of the large east wast streets in San Fran and drive west in San Fran. Driving west you will see the pacific, it looks great. Will you be renting a car or bike. Have a good time there.

I will be in a car with 2 other guys. will do the alcartraz for sure, not sure about the redwood forest just north of the golden gate bridge, but fishermans warf is on the list as well. Thanks a lot for the info.

I might be ok for a Sunday ride, Sat is better for me though.

Dike has a gravel road along the top for much of its length. Wide, loose gravel, dusty if it's dry. Farm traffic although that should be pretty much over.

Hoping to, although I'm on call this weekend and can't get too far from home.

Thanks a lot.
Make sure you take pacific coast hwy cause it'll be an amazing ride. You'll go from beach level to mountain level over and over while being right on the ocean. Have fun!

Hey Jing, as Stubblejumper mentioned there are a lot of cool things to see and do there. If you can swing it, rent a bike and ride the PCH south from Monterey to Morro Bay along the coast. Riding south is more fun on this road! Then you can head north inland through the Carmel Valley back to Monterey. Very beautiful! A fabulous ride but you would need 2 days to enjoy it. It would be so worth it!!!
If it looks like you might be able to do it, I can help you plan a route.

Putting the wee Bandit to bed tomorrow. I'll keep the DR out for a while longer. Ass holes sanded the roads here already!
