But everyone wanted to start too late. Having to work at 1600 every day kinda puts a damper on that often. Still riding bike to work on daily basis. Sure like that heated vest investment.

No way for me to hook up for a ride today. But I did go tour the local farm roads for an hour or so. Met a friendly mini horse and toured a tiny old country church.

That everyone who wanted to ride today got out and did just that...Mel, I am sorry we missed you - I think we hung around til about 2-ish, and then Mr and Mrs Backroader, Great White North and I went on a lovely tour north to Breezy Point, amongst other places...lovely little curvy roads, some gravel and a beautifiul day.

Kelly, I would have been willing to start out waaaaaaaaaaaaaay earlier today if you had chimed in about wanting to start early...I am just that kinda gal - so if next weekend comes and it looks like a good day for a ride, let me know...I don't have heated gear, but I do have plenty of insulation, and can layer like crazy under my jacket (now 3 sizes too big)...

I do have a semi confirmed outing planned on Sunday, so Saturday would be my day for riding - if weather permits...At this point, I don't think I would want to ride in the rain, but if the temps are low and the sun is still shining, I would be open...

Greg, thanks for a lovely tour today...I have really enjoyed my rides this weekend, and it is because I have had excellent tour guides...

Big Thnx to Backroader and Janice for guiding the ride today (and to Lee for the company too). Was nice to tour along the Red on some river roads I'd not seen before. Sure lots of nice, nice homes along the river! It was such a great sunny afternoon for a ride, as I was making my way home, I was surprised to see dark (wintery!) clouds on the horizon moving in quickly. Home just in time - another great adv-venture with great people. Cheers

Didn't see you guys. I could smell supper from there and had cruise control on autopilot mode making a beeline for the feed trough. What you guys doing snorkeling back java at such a fancy Corydon establishment anyway (whatsamatter with Timmies!?) - I didn't think ADVers hung there - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

Still not done but, downed tools when tempers got hot so, was able to meet Mel and Chris for a ride when their course was over.

Some shots from our ride today:

Near Sugar Island on the Red River...just north of the old Yacht Club.

Near the Breezy Point Boat Launch, once a thriving cottage community, leveled by the last Red River Flood. Now it's a boat launch.

Lock Port, a fresh new paint job on the locks.

It was a great day to be riding.....

I didn't go very far today, but man were there a lot of bikes out!

Just watch out for the sand in those construction zones (I'm still reading the pavement. Ever notice how even in a cage you sit perfectly in a tyre track? Even drove with the windows down... This is going to be a long 5.5 months...

).

Love the sentiment about driving with the windows down.

.. but 5.5 months between rides?!

I was thinking MAYBE 2.5 months...,

Anyway kids, it's crazy out there, don't do anything you'll regret.
Never mind thinking about riding outside the normal Hardly season...

If you've never ridden on ice, keep it that way.
Just saying; ...

I'm a trained professional on a closed course.

Watching for sand is one thing, watching out for cage drivers is another thing... Got cut off 4 times today from downtown to St Vital. The right signal on first, then the lane change starts, followed by the shoulder check ....
