I may be the one rider in this thread that has the LEAST amount of motorcycling experience, but in the short months that I have been riding, I've brewed a strong hatred for the way motorcycle parking is dealt with in this city. Mainly downtown, but in other areas as well. My beef is that we have to tie our parking stubs to our handlebars, which get stolen, then our bikes get towed, then you have to pay the towing fee even if you paid for parking. My suggestion is to have free motorcycle parking or something like that.

I'd like to send a stern email to the mayor but if I'm the only one that feels this way, I won't! Let me know what you guys think.

We should be able to use the bike racks

Or park on the sidewalks like those scooter types

As an aside, Mel, I'd have thought that you'd have bought Pants FIRST! ;)
I hope you never get another chance to test your gear, though.

Unfortunately Marstar.ca seems to have sold out of the MG-42. It'd look SO good on on of those...

I read somewhere that the 2013 models, or at least some of them, are powder coated instead of painted. I think that probably says all that needs to be said...

If I had won that Street Glide in the last hospital lotto I would have sold it and got a Ural

(Or else had it made into a trike so dad could have a bike that he wouldn't fall off of )

I find the URAL kind of funky too, and maybe for the right price... who knows, maybe I'd jump. I think a guy has to be a pretty decent wrench tho to own one... or have a dealer close by and be willing to shell out if you aren't mr fix-it yourself. No dealer here in Wpg BTW. There is a URAL related thread here in ADV in the hacks forum that has to be the most all-time high emotion/vitriolic thread going: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=794963 Not for the meek - lots of personal attacks. People that own 'em obviously love 'em for what they are despite the flaws.

On a different note - photo radar.

The city approved a $20 million dollar expenditure yesterday to update photo radar cameras to digital, and to keep the program going. You just have to wonder. Apparently the contractor that runs the program for the city (a US firm) takes 50% of the ticket cost - I find the whole program disgusting!

20 million to update them and they only get 50%. Can you imagine what kind of overall income comes from that program?

Mel, count me in on the petition. Start with your counciler and the one for downtown. Might try the provincial Green party. ( infastructure as a environmental issue.) Not sure if it's a city or provincial law that makes it ok for scooters to park on sidewalks but illegal for bikes.

Thanks to Chris and Mel for the wall climbing tonight. Had fun but, had to follow it up with a soak in hotub.
Glad you had a good time, man. It's always nice to see more people come out. Also, I'm impressed with how many of you all want to support my idea about the parking issue. It's awsome. You guys are great.

Well it's gonna start with a stern email to the mayor's office. Like I said, if I get a stupid response back, I'll start a petition.

Ha ha they updated Google Street View in our area this spring.

I saw the google car when I was on my bike coming home from Fort Frances last May 30. I thought I may have got in the picture and sure as heck I was.

I know it'd never happen but it'd be really neat if they did some of the ice roads.

I think I saw this guy riding today... on Notre Dame? Portage? Can't remember - was more impressed that he seemed to have better traction/control than the cars around him.

you should post your email on here so we can use it as a template for us to use as well! make sure to complain about having to pay parking tickets as the result of theft of the parking paper.

I'm in on any petition we need to get going.
