Well I will not be alone. . I love my Versys.

Only complaint is the seat is not that great on long haul riding. Still doing research on seats. Need more info before I put down money on a new seat.

Welcome to the great handling bike club.

Versys... & Euro riding

So Slow - Ha, I thought you'd bought that Versys. The day Mark & me popped by Headingly Sports and bumped into you and your frau, I'd asked later about it because I'd noticed it was gone, and was told it'd just sold, so put 2 & 2 together. ...didn't want to say anything. Nice looking bike - I really like that colour scheme!

Re touring in Europe, I was fortunate to live there for 6 years, and brought my motorcycle (a Yamaha 650 Seca) over with me. For whatever reason, I didn't stray too far with it, instead taking the car (had to buy a BMW :^) on longer trips. I sure explored the Schwarzwald/Black Forest a lot with it tho - I know the good motorcycle roads over there very well. If anyone is planning a trip over there at some point, touring Germany, Switzerland & Austria, I'd be happy to suggest some routes/provide travel advice.

Sometime (soon) I plan to get a bike over to Europe and leave it there in storage for riding seasonally. All the stars are finally lining up for some great riding over the next while 2013 and beyond.

Hektoglider, this book was like the bible for me during our tour of 10 countries in 31 days

This tire looks like it would work pretty good. I like the bigger 100 size vs the 90/90/21. Might give the KLR a chance in the deeper sand. Price point looks pretty good too.

If you facebook, more pics from a 2009 trip here. These show more of the off-road aspect. I betcha I have some GPS files too, to get back to that porn stash in the hunter's cabin.

I got my citizenship for one of the countries over there recently, so maybe it will make part of my time over there easier/better.

I can't understand how they could sell a bike that gets them that excited. Seems to me like it should be a keeper...

Sure pays to know the language! I was by no means fluent in German (and still aren't), but constantly I'd find myself in situations where knowing a little German really smoothed the way. I didn't visit French language countries much because of that actually. Amazing how much the Scandinavian countries landscape looks like ours.

Europe

Hekto, working on retrieving the alps book and maps that I lent to a friend who did a motorcycle adventure there last summer. As soon as I get them back you're welcome to borrow them if you want. PM me and I can get them to you.

Hey, good detective work!

I'd actually just finished all the signatures and had the paperwork in hand when we bumped into you guys. I didn't say anything at the time because I have a policy of not saying anything about something until I actually _have_ it. If I'd said anything at the dealership, I'm pretty sure fate would've intervened and there would've been a loud bang from the back and a bent front wheel would've slowly rolled by...

I've got a couple of crappy photos from when it first arrived. I'm going to get some good ones shortly but I've done a number on my neck and am spending a lot of time lying flat on the floor nowadays. Haven't been able to even sit on the bike yet.
