Welcome to the great handling bike club.
I thought the seat was pretty comfortable but I haven't spent more than about 5 minutes on it in total. I've read other people with similar opinions as yours, though. Have you found out anything about the Kawi gel seat? Any farkling suggestions?

Previous owner tried the gel seat and returned it. I have not tried it though many do not care for it.

As far as farkles go I have Givi saddlebags and top case. Really like them with the quick release feature. I also have the Givi taller windshield and a Givi quick release tank bag.

I wired the tank bag so I can charge phone and Bluetooth devices. I also installed hand Warner's but seldom use them as my hand seem to stay warmer than most people's. that may be because I have a pair of thinsulate cold weather riding gloves. I also have hand guards on my bike.

Pretty happy with the bike as is. Engine guards are the only other thing I would do.

The bike is a bit buzzy at 4-5 thousand RPM but I got used to it. Might try to isolate it this spring but not too worried about it.

Love the power. Careful in first and second, has been known to wheelie if you roll on throttle hard. Caught me of guard a time or two.

You will enjoy the bike I am sure.

Geez, that sounds like the makings of a sig line... "...there would've been a loud bang from the back and a bent front wheel would've slowly rolled by."....

that would be "prime"

somehow a while back I downloaded a GPS track someone had posted up. Apparently the rider had recorded the track during his Eidelweis MotorBike Tour. I figure its probably got some great roads on it......the stuff people pay $$ to ride....

Re touring in Europe, I was fortunate to live there for 6 years, and brought my motorcycle (a Yamaha 650 Seca) over with me. For whatever reason, I didn't stray too far with it, instead taking the car (had to buy a BMW :^) on longer trips. I sure explored the Schwarzwald/Black Forest a lot with it tho - I know the good motorcycle roads over there very well. If anyone is planning a trip over there at some point, touring Germany, Switzerland & Austria, I'd be happy to suggest some routes/provide travel advice.[/QUOTE]

Same here. I grew up southeast(south of Munich), Black Forest is southwest.South Germany,Switzerland,Austria,North Italy and Southwest France best riding there is. The Alps.

Wow. You's went from being in motorcycle heaven to Manitoba flatness and high insurance. Not trying to strike a nerve or anything, but its like polar opposite. You must look back with a big sigh eh? what about those Pyrenees? ever ride there?

MB and MPI, where to begin? It's not all bad.
My nerves are fine, because i am over there every 2-3 years for a few weeks. A friend (we got our license in the summer of '88 at the same driving school) was last year in the Pyrenees and we are planing some GB trip in 2014.
