With a full face helmet, you do not completely understand how a dog feels with its head out the car window!!

Backroader, Pifflemaster, and Jimtoe know how to get here, it's only about 500 meters off HWY 17.
Thanks Ron, could be a large group this year !

Thanks for the hospitality Ron. Looking forward to heading east again.

Finally got a bunch of work done on the KLR for the coming season.

I've got a doo to do, and it'd be nice to see the local ADV crowd again!

I know it is not riding season yet and no I was not on a bike. But I was getting my little Miata (open air top down car) from the country before the Red River swells and makes a meal out of my twenty year old toy. I stopped at Burke's Inn in Morris for supper. I think this needs to be a ADV meal stop for a lazy country cruise.

This is a cook your own steak meal. They have a huge grill in the bar where you cook your steak. While you are doing that they are preparing the baked potato and garlic toast. The steak was awesome. My compliments to the chef.

I need to check mine also. The previous owner modded the hell out of my bike so I wouldn't be surprised if it was done already but I just want to check to make sure so if it needs to get done I can order the new parts before the trip.

I would absolutely call for a tech day at our place, but we just don't have the room necessary for that many bikes/vehicles and people around the garage.

Ah, the famous doo....or why i bought a DR instead of a KLR. Kawasaki still hasn't got that issue sorted out on their new KLRs?

I think Kawasaki has it figured out. It is paranoid owners that do not. I think for the numbers of KLRs out there the actual failure rate on the 'doo is pretty low.

Cycle World did a "What bike would you choose in case of the end of the world" adventure bike comparison test with 5 bikes and guess who won?

First start of the season. Everything is good. Wish it would be outside.

Let riding season begin!!!

Got my new riding pants this morning, to go with the new jacket and gloves I picked up in Vancouver in January... Brian very kindly assisted me by getting the Wooly Mammoth out of DCMD's shop at St Andrews, and off the lot there (which still has a lot of ice on it)...

I then got geared up (Brian took the photo above), and rode her in to Winnipeg (carefully avoiding all salty puddles , BR) for my first ride if 2013...It is a grand day for riding today, and I was thrilled to be hi-vis on the road...

Anyone up for a run to Gimli on Monday? Just a thought...

Oh yeah...one more small detail - the start-of-season odometer reading (photo by PiffleMaster):

Haven't read the "test" yet....but for well under 1/2 the cost of the competition (so you can buy an extra one as a spare) I'm assuming the KLR would take it going away. The rest are very tall, heavy, $$$, whores!
