Over 1000 bikes in Ride For Dad today.

A group of us rode the whole poker derby together. Our leader was a wee bit aggressive on the road to Gimli and at one point was leapfrogging around cars n bikes. I waited for a clearing in the oncoming traffic, wound it to the stop, hunkered down, hung on, and passed the whole lot in one go. I looked down at my instruments and came to realize that I had inadvertently just joined the Ton-Up Club....by a solid margin. ....GS stands for Goes like Stink I think...

Lets not do that again...

Glad to hear the ride for dad was a success, I saw lots of pirates on the Hiway today, here in southern Ont. most likely the Ride for Dad guys and gals returning for the ride held at Kingston..

EOAR was great, though the numbers are falling off according to organizers. Hope it sticks together for years to come.
I was able to meet up with Dr Cool's family, though biet brief, humbling just the same. The organizes of the event, in particular, Motor Axe, Ron, thanked our combined efforts of the Winnipeg and Northern Ontario Riders group for our combined contribution of over $1300.00 towards the trust fund.

Ispalt2 and NoChrome, were two of the draw prize winners. Good on you, Dam and Clint, both of which attended the Ice Breaker field in Hawk Jct., last weekend.

Pifflemaster and I are going to spend Sunday evening with Les and Cathy from DSP and take advantage of the shop on Monday to catch up on some emergency repairs before return back to the Peg. By the way, DSP is closed on Monday, however they have extended a warm welcome to us to he'll fellow travelers.. Much appreciated.

Should be back in the Peg Thursday or Friday... Short stop on Thunder Bay at the MadHouse.

Late July can put you in some pretty heavy traffic as the Sturgis Rally begins to ramp up. If you like the heat, more than likely you won't be disappointed.

I know all the paved roads in the hills very well. Learning more of the off road stuff with every visit. Years worth of exploring out there!!! It's a fabulous place for dualsports!
I hope to organize another ride in September to enjoy the fall colors again.

When you want to discuss stuff to do, PM me and I'lll give you my number.

Heading home, stopped enrpute for the nite with Les and Catherine, Waterlilly. Making some repairs at DSP tomorrow, then heading west towards, what I suspect will be another wet run.

Almost bought a stolen motorcycle!

I came into the big city (wpg) last week to pick up a motocross bike for my son. Looked good, price was right. It had been registered in manitoba since 2009. Before handing over cash I input the vin into the "canadian police information centre" website. Sure enough it says bike may have been stolen, call local police.

Present owner says "no way its stolen" so we call. Winnipeg police come after waiting a couple hours. Two nice cops start to check things out and they find out it was reported stolen in BC. After it had been registered in MB.

Turns out the guy in wpg brought from shop out west who sold it because of unpaid repair bill. The origonal owner reported it stolen two months later.

Cops confiscated bike while this all gets sorted out. I would have found out the hard way when I went to register the bike on monday!

Got out for a brief ride through Beaudry Park Lido Plage Road, Highway 26 for a
bit, and other places - putting on about 120 Kms in the process. When I was parking Lucy, I decided to check how many Kms she has on her all told - and am pleased to report that in the 28 days I have owned her, I have put on 4075 Kms...not a bad start, I would say...

I am totally in love with my VStrom !!! I am looking forward to getting together with Deb and Karen for our 3V camping run to Rushing River on June...I am pretty sure we will have us some fun!!!

It's great to see so many people are getting out and having adventures!

Got out on the Versys today, did the loop out to Headingley (that Roadhouse restaurant out by Nick's Inn has some very tasty food, BTW), enjoyed myself so much I ignored the clouds and did a lap around the Perimeter before heading in down Inkster and back home. Felt like I could've kept riding forever - light wind, light traffic, twenty degrees, and overcast. Bliss.

I'm still working on my summer trip plans. I'll be heading back out to BC but won't do the island this year - my sister and her family are moving so they won't be in Victoria by the time I get out there. Going to meet up with BC Brian and maybe head up to the Yukon. Sticking to pavement - no forest roads this time.

Alaska

My brother and his wife are leaving next week for a 3 week ride to Alaska and back from his home in Courtney, Vancouver Island. He bought his GS1200 last year from a guy in Atlanta Georgia on ebay. Flew down and rode the bike back to Courtney.

Here is a map I put together of his route....approx 10,000 km (ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert)
