Beemer at Unicity - anyone from here?

Was at the Unicity Canadian Tire Tuesday evening, saw a BMW Dakar there with grey sidecases and a MB plate.

Anyone from here? If so, nice bike! If not... uh, still a nice bike!

PheasantVille

Took the Super 10 to work yesterday, and Deborah enjoyed taking her Vstrom to work as well. We met up in Miami after work for a liesurely drive home through the hills. Saw some wild Turkeys, a Skunk, and one pheasant that was deeply attracted to my Yamaha!

Did it taste good? Damn! That's weird! No shortage of wildlife vs mc encounters this year!

Guess running on it's side under power for a while isn't too good for it.
Frame that supports the front fairing and headlight is also bent, though can be straightened.
Plastics are in worse shape than I originally thought.
Not sure yet if I'll get another and use this one for spares, or try to find the bits I need to rebuild it.
That's a tough one Brian. Sorry to hear that. Now I understand why my Goldwing has a tip over shutoff switch (known to fail BTW in earlier 'Wings). There's been a few good deals on Kijiji lately (check AB) on oilhead Beemers. - check out this nice old GS: http://alberta.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ490278801

Did you find it out after you got home? You are lucky it's not a skunk

Ow! We'd be in a world of hurt if there were flying skunks!

Livestock trucks are bad enough, thank you!

Some waldo almost forced me to the gravel shoulder last night to avoid a head on when he decided to pass the guy he was following. Fortunately a hard braking and riding the pavement edge was enough, as that shoulder looked loose enough to unhorse me, but he still passed me half in MY lane. Bad cess to them...

It's not like a GS with side cases and ME on top is a hard thing to notice.

Just a reminder to always drive defensively, no matter what mode of transportation.

I saw the Pheasant flying up out of the ditch and it looked like he was going to fly beside me, then he exited stage left and Poof! Feathers were flying everywhere around me. The leg was sticking straight up in front of my windshield, and then slowly descended downward...

Hey Carl, Janis has a recipe for Pheasant Stew.!!!
I personally think it should stuffed and hung in your bike shed... It would give the place a nice rustic appearance.

Positive Dual Sport Plus experience.

Positive Dual Sport Plus experience.

I purchased some new Klim gear and wanted to make sure I got the D30 armour in it. I was able to get most of the armour when I ordered the gear but they could not supply the knee / elbow padding. I searched all over the internet, Klim had it back ordered for a month, several suppliers showed that they had it but when i phoned they were not able to supply.

I had looked at DSP but the price was a few bucks more and I knew that I would get hit with the HSTs.

Eventually I phoned DSP and asked them if they had it in stock. They looked but like everyone else, they did not have any. He said that they would check with the supplier and see what he could do. I fully expected to hear the same old "its back ordered" story.

Well got a call back and they said that the supplier said they would be able to supply but not right away. He said that they were going to take some out of the pants/jackets they had on display. YAHOO

3 days later they arrived at my door.
Did it cost me a little more? - sure
Did I have to pay the HSTs? - sure

Did I learn a lesson in what good customer service is - You Bet
Will I buy from them again - You Bet

Otter Tail County

Back from some nice road riding in Minnesota. Otter Tail County has the most lakes of any county in the US with lots of good quality roads to explore them on. The strom was a great bike for exploring around there. Crazy tail wind today on the way home....70 mpg !!!!!

Finally a tail wind...what are the odds?

Some random photos on the return trip from the EOAR...

Brian and Les, winding down from a great supper in Hamilton. Special thanks to Les and Cathy (Water Lilly) for the classic DSP hospitality.

Over night stop over before catching the ferry to Manitoulin Island. The Piffle Master checking email.

The classic food shot, fish n chips, Tobermory style.

Heading onto the ferry
