I have the Backroad Mapbook for southern Saskatchewan, and there is lots of info in it. Thats how I found most of the better roads and other things. The photo is of the buffalo jump site....

I am not a big history buff, but its cool to stop and "know" what you are riding past. From a distance the sea of blue almost looks like water...

Theres some cool riding in the prairies. The photos below are south of Oxbow, where the Souris Valley route begins, past the old house before dropping into the hidden valley.

Priceless! Great pics. I have the MB mapbook, bought the Rockie Mtn .pdf mapbook, but should get the SK & AB ones too. They allow you to do graveltravel confident that you won't dead end in the middle of nowhere!

There are a lot of Sherpas out there.... Kind of like Unicorns though, not seen very often.

A few more pics:
The previously mentioned low-level crossing when it's passable.

And when it's not:

Souris valley west of hwy 9

The Moose Mtn roads : the water takes forever to evaporate, there's no drainage. I contemplated this section, when a quad side by side came out and said its a lot worse the further in you go

Saskatchewan scenery

The Coulee near the buffalo jump site

I am so very glad that Karri has the eye to appreciate the subtle beauties of our prairie landscape...Great photos Karri...

I personally just got back from doing my "Late September Fall Colours Tour to Hadashville Manitoba"...I saw lots of red gold grains, yellow and orange trees, lots of variations on the colour gray; rode about 8 kms down a gravel road rapidly turning into a slurry, and thoroughly washed my jacket in the process. Did I mention that for some reason I did not see another biker in the 212 kms I put on this afternoon?

Bunch'o'coffee-shoppers in this province, or what? Wusses, for sure...

Hey Lee, I would have been out, but since I have a accumulated enough rain riding time in my life, I felt I could afford to pass up the odd day, such as today.

I will be out tomorrow with Mrs Backroader, enjoying a fall colour tour.

Rode close to this area enroute from "Speedy Creek" (Swift Current to those non Saskabushers) to Red Lodge last year. Might be a great Sherpa ride in the making.

Think all the pretty fall leaves got washed off the trees here over the last two days! Shall go looking for some tomorrow. Might end up in the White Shell. Anybody headed that way?

I am torn between throwing the kayak on the back and heading to Caddy Lake for an afternoon of paddling, and trying to convince Strommergirl to go riding in around the Pembina Valley...The riding season is getting short, but the paddling seaon is getting even shorter...
