...dreaming about a ride in the country too. Heated gear makes all the difference. Mrs GWN doesn't have any. I'm very careful not to speak about my state of relative warmness compared to her... was all I could do to get her to go out on the bike today No pics, it didn't happen.

Fall supper in Lorette yesterday.....yuummmm!
Tic, tac toe around all corners of Winnipeg today visiting family (and eating, eating and more eating) on the klr. Sure is nice to not hear that slapping of the balancer chain now that the doo is installed and adjusted.
With only 3000 km on the stock doo lever and spring there was nothing left in the spring. Drilled the torsion spring location at 530 and 700, but installed at 530. Good for mucho miles now.

Just got in and really enjoyed my toasty Alpine Star jacket at 7C. No electrics yet................Toughening up for winter on the ice.

More nice scenery and Sherpa pics Greg

Les, how did the little Honda stay in gear with that piece broken ??? Lucky you got it before any big damage.

It stayed in gear TOO well! Pretty often it would get stuck in 2nd and couldn't get to 3. Exciting on Pembina Hwy as you're redlined in 2nd and going for 3rd to keep up with traffic... then you don't get 3rd.

I got the first layer of clutch removed. I drilled out the 4 phillips (JIS) screws - they'll get replaced with allen head screws. Now I need a special Honda tool for the clutch nut. It's a 24mm 4-pin spanner socket if anyone has one kicking around.

edit: ordered one for pickup Thursday.

Nice pics Greg. Wish I could have joined you. Would have been a lot more fun than home reno and dump run.

Weather is supposed to be nice next weekend. Care to cross country to Renalds pond and some of the fire roads in Sandy Lands park.

I have not ridden those roads since the 80s.

North Rider and decided to go for a beer and supper. Currently in Dryden.
A cool wet ride for Feliz, I lucked out and only got the cool.
The plan was Ely, but rain was in the forecast.

2C this morning, so through the wooly mammoth on seat...

Warmed up to 3.5c at Falcon Lake

In Dryden at the Riverview... A grand old hotel on the River.

Bikes are parked.

Hmmm....long term forecast suggests that my morning commutes will be over next week. Rain, snow, sub zero in the mornings....

Guess it's almost time to think about packing it in for the season. Just shy of 16,000km, back tyre is nearly bald. it's been a good run this year.

I'm turning this one over in my head. The bike was sitting idle for 5 days last week(end). Monday morning I go to start up and the battery is nearly flat; it turns over once or twice and gives up.

The only thing that *might* have been on would be the 12v car adapter for the GPS plugged into my accessory slot. The GPS itself wasn't hooked up. More than once I've put the GPS on in the morning and it has powered on, so the accessory socket doesn't ALWAYS power down within half a minute of the bike being shut off.

Would that 12v adapter on its own draw enough to kill the battery in 5 days, or am I having the dealer chase down a fault when it goes for service next? I've left that power cord plugged in since first putting the GPS on. In the days/weeks prior to this I did note some mornings it was perhaps a bit slower to crank over, so the battery might have been chronically weak. I'm not in the habit of using a maintainer during the season (usually just before a trip of a day or more and that's it).

I plugged the GPS in this morning with the bike off and there was no power to it (as it should be). Likewise at work I waited and it did shut down with the usual delay once the engine was off (also as it should be). I think the not-shutting-down part happens when I take the GPS off before the power socket shuts down...I *think*.

Didn't see any other bikes on the road this morning on the way to work. There was one other bike parked at work though.

Heading to WSL after work to pick up my special socket to take the clutch off the C70. Then we'll see what parts need ordering.

Wonder if they are still doing Thursday hot dogs?

The Hot Dog thing is only in the spring.
