Your tank lives on BTW

Am likely going to pull the engine in spring and repaint the frame in black. Will give me an excuse to pull the swingarm and regrease all the pivot bearings.

I finally gave in today and took the batteries out of the bikes.

On the KLR I measured the remaining tread depth on the rear TKC80 with 3500 km on the tire. Have about 4mm left. New measures 10mm. Love the way these tires work but the rear sure doesn't last very long. Maybe 5k if your careful.

Also measured the Bridgestone OEM rear on the strom and with only 10k on the tire there is only just over 1 mm left. Must have been all the heat we were running in for the Montana/Idaho ride. And all the throttle to keep Carl and the Super Ten in sight

Great memories Mark! Looking back on 2013, it has been a special year with lots of riding with good friends. Hope everyone can make it on the 8th for the get together at Polo Park Canad Inn!

Yes...it was pretty darn good. Are you still going to do a Montana/Idaho ride report ? It's seems so long ago already it's kind of a blur...

Looking forward to lunch Dec 8....

Talked to Mcnoob tonight...already planning our May Black Hills ride

And Texas maybe in Feb if anyone is interested in Hill Country

Have been puttering away on KLR stuff. Spare frame repainted. What a PITA to clean and prep it properly. Still have swingarm to do.

Helps keep me sane (well, saner) over the non-riding/winter months. Just ordered a front end off eBay for it. I intended this to be just for a run-up stand, but why not build it up and eventually put it back on the road? It's a '97 and made it to 48,500 kms before the doohickey broke and jammed the counterbalance chain. I suspect the piston and head are still good... will get to looking at that eventually.

Maybe look for a beater KLR or similar. Those Super Sherpas you guys bought were like new - no work there to do!

The Sherpas were not project bikes.

That frame on the workbench looks like every episode of Orange County! Are you going to stretch and rake it out? It looks like a fun project . Is your shop in the basement or a garage?
