I have almost the exact same clearance at 9000. Was going to change em at 12 and set them to the max so I can ignore it lots.

Yeah, with those km, it's probably mostly settled down, but I wouldn't chance any long trips without carrying the required shims along.

Did you pull and record the shim sizes currently installed?
Do that tomorrow at tech day and all you need to do is pick up the required shims.
I've sourced a range of the common sizes, but won't have them tomorrow.

Here's an excellent shim calculator to punch the numbers into and get the required sizes.
Easy to tailor the #s to get either maximum wear duration, or better combustion.

I would say change the shims - you've already got it apart, and both intake and exhaust are only .001 off the minimum.

my 2008 needed 3 of 4 shims at 3k.....checked at 13k and 23k .... it didnt neeed any adustments after the first one at 3k. I guess once they seat they don't change that much.

Maybe I could stretch this one out to 15 or 16 k which would probably take me to this time next year ??? Then I'd have a look at the doo too. What do you guys think?

Removed and plugged the AIS system...probably put in a new spark plug while it's accessible

edit. oops I see you guys already weighed in ....maybe I should change 'em

Great tech day

Big thanks to Brian & Richard for hosting. Nice to both get out for a ride, and to see those that showed up for the tech day. The mini swap shop was a great idea - I picked up a few goodies I can use. It started to drizzle a bit on the ride home, but I was grinning the whole way (it was just great to get out again finally!)... funny thing tho - I didn't see a single Harley (or an other motorcycles for that matter) on River Rd or Henderson Highway on the way back to the city

I made a tunnel out to the KLR shed today.... but the ground is too wet and muddy to roll anything out.

Tech day...

Great turnout at the shop today. Thanks to all who showed up!
Left my camera at the shop so my pics will have to wait till another day.

A couple of new faces (whose details are now added to the local mailing/contact list); which will be sent out shortly.
Again, thanks to all, and special thanks to those who brought food/beverages to the gathering.

Spring is finally here and we may see more (or less) of each other in the following months.
Cheers!

Sounds like I missed out on some fun. When's the next one? Any day rides scheduled?
