Chris, just starting to snow (sleet?) here in the west end of the city. This is heading your way. Probably not a good day to be out & about on 2 wheels. 3 wheels, maybe

Freezing rain here in La Salle! Be careful out there!

Bit cool out there!

Went for a ride in the country. Thought I'd better get one in as long term forecast doesn't look too great. Bit cool and slippery out there, and it started to snow, heavily by the time I got home. Edit - traction variable... stay safe.

You can't see it well in the pic, but it's snowing:

I for one, am glad to see the snow

Sorry folks, but I was feeling very sad that I would not be able to get out for my first ride of the year much before the beginning of May ... I figured everyone would have the jump on me by at least two weeks...

I am delighted that the snow is going to hold some folks back a few days - and I am thinking I might just be ready to ride before month's end...weather permitting...

The much dreaded surgery has come out well - I can still smile, open and close my eyes, puff out both cheeks, blow kisses and cusses and smoke rings (as if ... I quit that nonsense almost 12 years ago)...I will admit to being a bit cranky at times, however - when the pain meds wear off...

Anyway, let's say my sense of humour remains fully intact, and so is my determination to ride sooner rather than later...

Thanks to all for the good wishes...

Forecast was for 5-10 cm of snow here but stayed decent all day. +6 so took the GS out to stretch it's legs. A bit windy and coolish on the highway but got a bit of a ride in before heading to the store to pick up some salmon for supper. Forecast the rest of the week looks cold so will wait it out until we return to better riding temps.

That certainly was an adventure!

Pulling into deacon's corner in the morning, and I let off the gas pulling in to park and I just about tossed the thing on the ground, the rear brake wouldn't release! Got that freed up, then we went out for the twisties on highway 44 up to West Hawk. Good fun. Was nice to finally go somewhere other than work!

Then it alternated rain and snow on the way back but never really accumulated on the highway.

We got back into town, then my bike started spluttering, stalled, and wouldn't restart. Then I flooded it. Mel had the right suggestion to drain the float bowl. Started up like nothing was wrong after that. I guess I'm sucking moisture in my carb vent tube. I assumed ignition, but it started up like normal when we drained the float bowl and ran totally fine the whole way home. First ever road side breakdown!

Then the tip of my shifter broke off. And that one I'd bought from you Brian as a spare? Left it at home of course.

I made it through Winnipeg never leaving second gear, then managed to catch the shifter with the tip of my boot to shift when I got back on the highway, but man is it hard cornering in the city without the normal throttle response and engine braking you're used to. Sorry I blew all those light timings and lane changes for you Mel, I had to concentrate with the wrong RPM range and the visor was starting to fog. You probably would have been better off leading through Winnipeg. Thanks for sticking by me with the breakdown!

Those twisties were fun. A good day I think. I'll see if my gopro saw anything other than water.

There's a potential trail out that way that we should all go try to find when the snow recedes.

Some rides are like that but Mel has some sticky carb and rear brake experience so you were in good hands.
It is great to see people out in less than ideal conditions in other parts of the country. Well done.

If I still had every dollar I spent on motorbikes I would be a richer man but a poorer person.
