Not sure I can make it....

Court dates in early August, cousin getting married on the 28th....

I'm in Madawaska, ME right now. Stay tuned, the excitement of tomorrow in court is building.

Got train trestles? Today in New Denmark, NB - over 3000 feet long.

Good luck today.

Very cool trestle.

Maybe you posted it somewhere already but I hope you grabbed the NA TOR while in NB.

Man, good luck in court today!

Definitely seems like a raw deal and something that they could have handled much better, had they wanted to.

We crossed at Van Buren the other day. The lady asked what that big red thing on my luggage was. As I turned to see WTF she was talking about, she exclaimed "DON'T TOUCH IT!!!"

"You mean that red button that says 'PRESS'? That releases the case from the rack, Ma'am..."

I couldn't tell if she was serious or not.

Case Dismissed!

I got me an official, signed, notarized copy of the paperwork from todays' hearing in court. Only cost me $100 for court costs? WTF? I had to either enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or no contest. Well, I wasn't pleading guilty, hell with that, after driving all the way. So, instead of pleading I asked to consult with the DA, as I had not had a chance to before hand due to the 9:00 am slot. He saw the details, and simply asked if I had had the license reinstated yet. I have, and was carrying the paperwork with me. So I got what they called a "filing" and not guilty, no record, no license suspension, a dismissal. And I pay $100. WTF. I figured them prying a benny out of my wallet was not such a huge deal, *and* if I had pled not guilty, I would have been rescheduled, and had a trial at a later date. So they fleeced me for $100. I wasn't going back there again if I could help it, Madawaska is no vacation destination, lemme tell ya.

Court was a crazy scene of miscreants. One lady had two DUIs back to back within two hours, the first was a .20, the second was a .15. She had no lawyer, pled guilty, picked out her jail time on the calendar, and was fined over $1200 and had to pay for her own incarceration!!!! Crazy, no lawyer with that kind crap going down. An assault, lots more DUI cases, an assault, paraphernalia possesion, a guy was burning w/o a permit, in the rain. BAM! $100 fine. SURCHARGES!!! two or three kinds. What a scam. They were raking in the dough this morning, I got off easy. Out by 10:15 Back to Canada,

"WE'RE OUTTA HERE!!!!"

So at the Canadian border stop, I tell them I've been to court in madawaska and am finishing up my vacation. Yellow card, park under the canopy, come inside. I grab my file folder. He wants to verify that I have not had a DUI. I have all my PAYHPERZ! and notarized this and that, we're outta there in ten minutes. BYE BYE mAINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, we took off for Quebec, and it was the way life should be: people talking in french, big silver churches, and no Border twits.

BTW, I had to provide proof of the reinstatement to the border patrol agent in Madawaska last night, their computer still shows a suspension, even though it was reinstated on june 17. This is the best they can do for my tax dollars. That was 7 weeks ago.

Lac Megantic, Quebec -

(I'm mirroring the NA TAG here, and can't play, grrrrurrrrrrhhhh.)

You can see the smugness on my mug. (pa-dum-pump!)

We had lunch at this place in St. Berthier sur la Mer - awesome saumon fume on a demibaguettine.

now, what about those guzzi guys this weekend.............................

Great report and awesome bike.

I'm just thinking of buying X-challenge and really like your Dakar set up. How much was it? The friend of mine has got a X-challenge in Sydney and has been really pleased with the costs of running this bike, fantastic fuel consumption and long maintenance interval. Are there any drawbacks?

Thanks.
David
