Thumb Australian ADV documentary

This is a short promo of an Australian adventure ride documentary project I've been working on for a long time now. It's cost serious grief to get it to this point but needs more to finish it.

The ride was from bottom to top, around 10,000 klms or 6,000miles, mainly off road. No back up vehicles etc, but I suppose much in the genre of 'Long Way Round' etc.

Anyway, the short promo can be downloaded from here:

The challenge now is to try complete the project, either as a 6 part (six half hour episodes) or 1.5 hour documentary, for cable or network TV. There is no shortage of material, but there is a shortage of funds.

I'm posting this up here in the event someone on this forum likes what they see and has a contact or involvement with a network or channel that might be interested in a pre-purchase. The budget to complete the post production (editing film & sound etc) is around AUD $50,000.

There are film/TV funding bodies that can help in this country but they come with so many strings attached - the prospect of spending countless hours on paperwork just doesn't appeal.

Interested in your thoughts, opinions and leads.

An alternative is to just finish the project as a DVD release only and minimise the post production budget. If that becomes the best option to close off this project - I wonder how many would be interested enough to fork out $25 for a DVD (say a 1.5 hours long?).

Oh, and although it says "Coming soon ..." at the end of the promo, that obviously still depends on getting it finished.

Cheers
Rossco

I would for sure buy a DVD copy for $25. I dont think you would have any trouble selling the DVD's. Looks like a fun adventure.

I'm sure you could get more than 1.5 hours of footage onto a DVD.
Nothing worse than paying $30 NZD or more for a DVD of a ride of 10,000km and it's only 1.5 hours long.
And make sure you don't have music ALL the way through it, especially when the footage is of you guys riding along, we want to hear the bikes, not music.

Do this and I would buy a DVD.

Very impressive Ross.
I certainly hope you can find the backing to finish this project. I would definately purchase a dvd if you release it.

Talking The RIGHT way up!

Wow! Looks enticing... sorry, can't help with the financials but if you go the DVD route I will be in for one, at least.

Good luck and keep us in the loop.

Cheers
Allan

I would buy a DVD , I can' t say I'd watch it on TV though , I don't watch very much Television , it's wall to wall crap on TV these days .
I am another who does not wish to listen to music overdubbed right through the production . Give us the sounds of the ride as well as the visuals !

I don't know poo about TV/media.

BUT I would buy one of the DVD's! If the rest of the show matches what you have there it'll be bloody unreal!

Top work! Good luck with getting it all off the ground...

Just a thought... have you had a chat with KTM AUS about any support they may be able to give? If they sell an extra five bikes they get their money back on the investment. I know poo about the advertising world, but surely this would be a one and half hour KTM ad . Look at what those 'other' blokes did for the Baverian Motor Works...

Definitely a cool intro video. I would be interested in a DVD, but shipping to the states might not be favorable.

Can I suggest you put it on Youtube, if you haven't already? Not only easier to view but a much larger audience, some of whom might be investors.
