Under the midnight sun: Berlin to North Cape 2007
Two years ago, my son got his driver's license. We decided to celebrate this occasion with a three week motorcycle trip. Our destination was to be the North Cape in Norway, since we always wanted to go there.
Being great fans of Scandinavia, wanted to ride its wonderful roads and see what beautiful scenery it has to offer.
The people there were very friendly and helpful, the weather was sometimes rainy, but that's what you get up there, I guess.
In this report, I'm just going to post pictures and let them speak for themselves and only occasionally add comments.
The pictures were taken both by me and by my son. We are big fans of cameras made by Nikon and used a D50 and a D70.
The length of the whole trip amounted to about 7700 kilometers and we were on the road for 17 days, having started on the 7th of June, 2007 and returned on the 23rd of the same month.
To the north of the Arcting Circle, we had to make use of all items of clothing we had with us, so we can certainly recommend people wanting to go there as well to take enough warm clothing. You'll need it. :)
What impressed me the most was surely the famous midnight sun. Riding north with the sun shining in your face on an empty road at 2 AM seems quite unreal. Riding was especially great in Lofoten.
I selected about 200 pictures which I'll post, in sets of 15 photos each, in chronologic order.
