The Greater Caskills Area BK.RD.Run Aug. 15th & 16th 2009

* THIS IS AN INFORMAL GROUP RIDE. SHOW UP WITH YOUR BUDDIES, AND GO*

O.K. Kids, I opened my big mouth and a bunch of people showed interest, so here it goes.... I have wanted to do a Catskills ride for some time now, and expressing that notion at the Mud Parade has helped push it into action.

The Mission, should you choose to accept it , is to spend the highest possible percentage of riding time on back, dirt and seasonal use only roads in the beautiful, rolling, farm country of the Western Catskills. That shouldn't be to difficult.

The Base of Operations (read campground ) I have in mind is reasonably priced, literally right on the E. Branch of the Delaware River (read great trout fishing), has quite a few amenities, is centrally located to the area in wich I have intended for the ride, and plenty of stuff for the family to do on-site and in the area (soccer H.O.F./ baseball H.O.F/ Howe's Caverns/ etc...)(should make it easier for some of you to negotiate on the homefront (bring the family!!)). Check this link http://nypeacefulvalley.com/index.html

D-Days at this point are tenatively August 15th and 16th. We may be able to increase this to a 3 day deal if enough people think it's a good idea. I say that, and chose these dates because it coincides with the Pro National MX weekend at Unadilla ( http://www.unadillamx.com/home.html ), and should allow enough time to solidify the route. Unadilla is an easy hour ride + or - from the campground for those that would be interested in attending. I have also touched base with the campground, and they assure me they would be able to accomodate a large group if neccessary.

I would appreciate any input concerning other events in the region/ADV. community that may conflict with these dates.

As well, any locals in the vacinity who would have suggestions for dirt/ seasonal use only roads to add to the route would be appreciated.

What do ya say folks?

Lets get this party started

Feedback Welcomed!!

I'll be able to make it the evening of the 15th, camp and ride all day Sunday (given how the apartment hunting goes soon)

All sounds good to me

Will this be an AMA sanctioned/insured ride or just a bunch of guys/gals with the same interests getting together for a weekend of fun and frolic?

When sponsoring a ride of this nature, one assumes a lot of risk, you know.

I'd like to particpate toooo.

I have a DS route all the way from Roscoe to Davenport that's about 60% dirt. Plus some other stuff. Might be able to help with your route.

Also can offer my place for free camping - but no amenities to speak of. Perhaps for a one night stopover(?).

PM me for more info or route sheets.

Considering it. This may be a bad time to be away from work or it may be the weekend after a bad time to be away from work, which would be perfect timing.
