Orlando sucks
I own page 2!
Not a big fan of O-town - I prefer the beach. Take a the 45min trip over to Daytona Beach. After a swim go to see Daytona Internatinal Speedway. Go north a bit to see the biggest Harley dealer in the world - Destination Daytona. Eat on the beach at world famous Ocean Deck - were every day is like a weekend. I would put up a nice sunrise photo but I am on the road till saturday.

But I suspect they are back in operation. Don't forget, Christmas is right around the corner! [that's a really lame central Florida geography joke]

maybe it won't be as interesting to non-americans, but I still think the Kennedy Space Center is one of greatest attractions in Florida. How many other places in the world can you see a Saturn V Rocket on its side?
One of the greatest things about the space center is that its equally entertaining to adults and children. not to be cliche, but there's something for everybody. http://www.nasa.gov/centers/kennedy/home/index.html I'd even check the schedule to see if you're going to be in florida during a launch. that'd be an amazing experience for the kids. |

Splendid China has been closed for three years. They auctioned everything off, including the "Great Wall." I bought a terracota warrior. The dude who bought the Great Wall was trying to sell it in pieces. He couldn't move the whole thing. Too Great.
Gatorland, on the other hand, has been open for two years plus since the fire. It only burned the entrance. The gators is just fine. +1 on the Kennedy Space Center. Very, very cool. I always tell people to go there and they never do. You can hit the nude beach (Playa Linda) while you're out there if you want to see fat Germans in the buff, or do some kayaking at the nature preserve.

+2 on Kennedy.
Another good one - Weeki Wachee http://weekiwachee.com/ Babes. Dressed like fish. It's awesome. Rent a car (drive on the right) and just go from state park to state park. You will spend a fraction of what you would in Orlando and see a lot better stuff.

yes do remember we drive on the "right" side of the road, and keep in mind that some of the best places to eat can be found not by looking at signs or menus, but how many local tags are parked out front. im sure theres plenty of good tips here on adv as to particularly good eats in orlando. as has been said, the theme parks are only good for the rides and are very touristy. but then again, most people in FL are tourists to us locals. rent a DS and ride the scrub with these folks, I hear thats a better way to spent yer money than tshirts and entrance fees.
