7 Mountains Dualsport, Sun, June 21
This is a really nice one-day dualsport out in Bald Eagle State Forest near State College, PA.
Very similar in terrain to the Shennandoah 500 with rocky forest service roads, beautiful overlooks, some nice single and two track sections, great group of riders and doable on the big bikes. We made a stop along the way a few years ago at a fantastic old Triumph shop (Guy Zerby's) on Penns Valley Road. The start is at a private campground. http://www.pamall.net/patra/docs/2009ds.pdf http://www.pamall.net/patra/docs/2009dsinfo.pdf |

Well, on August 8 and 9, the Bear Creek Sportsmen up at Hancock, NY, will have a 2-day big-bike adventure rally in conjunction with their famous 2-day trail ride.
This year will be their second go at an adventure ride, and they promise it will be better than last year and the course will be separate from the untimed enduro (trail ride). Perhaps you and Tuff Cookie can make that one. Don't let the 700 or so trail riders at the ball field intimidate you. http://www.bearcreeksportsmen.com/ |

Thanks. I was actually getting ready for that one. This weekend it's just not doable for us in PA.
BTW. TKC’s for the wee are on order so now nothing will stop us. And a lighter, more capable bike is a must next year since I tried some of the Pine Barrens routes couple weekends ago. |

I wish I knew about this , I am going camping up in Wellsboro area , would be cool to do this ride on sunday on the way home.
But the registration says that it had to be in before June 6 , and I don't have a roll chart(or have never used one! )Can you just show up and ride? I would love to stay up in Wellsboro and ride Saturday , then shot back down Saturday night and stay in the campground there and ride sunday. Lmk if this is a possibilty , would love to meet some other ADV riders.

I'm sure they will be happy to sign you up on Saturday evening or Sunday morning. As for the route sheet, you can carry it with you in a pocket or tape it to the top of your gas tank. I rode this one a few years ago and the only thing different from other dual sports they did was to use numbers instead of arrows to keep you on the course. When you would get to a decision point, like a split in the road, you would have to look a the number on the tree of or post they put there and then find the number on your route sheet. Say the number was 10. You find 10 on the route sheet and it says to turn left.
That's a great way to keep arrowing to a minimum and prevent others who don't have a route sheet from just following along on the course. Have fun. Terry

Sign up "IS" available the day of the event. The pre-register by June 6th gave you a T-shirt also.
Nice campgrounds for those traveling much distance, come saturday and enjoy all the local dirt roads prior to the Sunday ride. State College is close by for those wanting some evening entertainment

Yes, for folks who missed the deadline, you can register on-site, but you don't get a free T-shirt. Camping is right there at an actual family campground.
For those who ask," Can you show up and ride?" Yes, PATRA doesn't own the state forest, but if you plan to do any riding that takes you onto single-track that's off the legal and official Bald Eagle Dualsport Loop, I'd register and get a roll-chart. Registration includes a picnic lunch stop (burgers, fruit salad, chips, etc). I'm not riding the event this year, but I am definitely going to ride up and buy a T-shirt. I have a gang of people staying at my place who may or may not enter the event, but at the very least, a few will probably scoot on the forest roads a bit. I'm having a little shindig at my house in Bellefonte on Friday night (BYOB), camp-out and ride up to Renovo on Saturday. I have room for a few more if anyone's interested. This is mainly a KLR thing, but other big bikes and KLR friends can come. PM me if you want to join us.

The whole rollchart route (except the arrowed hero sections) is part of the Bald Eagle Dualsport Trail. You can pick up a trail map at a State Forest Office. Pick up the regular Bald Eagle Forest Map, too, for more dirt roads and orientation. The d/s trail is marked in yellow blazes.
This is a great run for folks not used to rocks. . . not too intimidating. Bring a spare tube and changing equipment. ![]() ![]()
