G650 XCountry Rear Luggage Plate

This tail plate is drilled to fit the Touratech G650X-Country large luggage rack Part No. 049-0310. (clicky)

OEM size comparison--

This plate is not made by Touratech! I came up with the design and had a local guy with a small CNC machine in his garage make it. 6061 powder-coated aluminum a full ” thick. 16” wide at the front and 13” wide at the rear and 8.5” deep. It uses the Touratech luggage rack as a base. Simply remove the Touratech plate and replace it with the new plate using the Touratech mounting bolts.

The slots for the straps are 2.5” x 1/2” so you can shove a strap through there with the nylon buckle still attached. The holes in the corners are 1/2" diameter and designed to accept a big bungie hook or a carabiner or whatever.

In the pics below, that’s a 29” wide duffel on the bottom. You can see that the plate is wide enough to support this bag with very little droop.

In these two pics, I attached my Rok straps to the pannier rack but just as easy to attach to the front slots on the plate.

These are Helen2Wheels dry bags in case you're wondering. Also, BTW, I have the steel subframe. If you don't, the TT rack is still the same rack, but YMMV. You might want to only put ONE drybag on there!

I don't think that looks too bad at all!

I have the Hepco-Becker pannier rack on my bike and there’s plenty of clearance. Sorry I don’t have any pics with the OEM seat. But my seat is built on the OEM seat base so the length and width are the same.

Another thing I like is the plate isn't so huge that you can't use it for everday use. Here's a pic with my RKA 18-liter tail bag and the fit is perfect!

So the deal is this. If I can get 10 pre-orders, I can get these for $120 each. That's the price shipped CONUS.

This is for the plate only. You have to buy the rack directly from Touratech!

If you’re in, post a reply. Soon as we have 10, I’ll get in touch with everyone with payment details. This will be a PayPal deal but if you don’t have PayPal, let me know and we’ll do yours another way.

If we don’t get 10, then this thread will die a natural death and you’ll never hear from me.

If you are cutting those things out yourself I might be interested in sending you my O.E. BMW rack (that fits all G650X models) for a similar treatment.
That might also prove to be a valuable SKU for you.

Looks great. Can you tell us the price or did I miss it.Would you be able to make the brackets so that one would not have to spend $200+ at touratech?

Good luck and keep us posted.
