I'm with you on that idea man!
I would have to buy internal bags for the 100% waterproof bags anyway, it would either be that or take the saddlebags off to store your stuff in the tent/room etc... and I don't want to be doing that. Plus the rack system is so simple... |

Nice!
Landscape keyboard for all applications, txt and movie mms. Those are the two big ones for me. I do like the enhanced calender though, much better and syncing of notes will be nice... |

So I jinxed myself by saying itunes sucked on this thread yesterday.
Connected my iphone. clicked "check for updates" itunes said "you need to update to itunes 8.2 before you can upgrade your phone to 3.0" I said ok. Downloaded and installed itunes 8.2 Now iphone doesn't appear anywhere in the system. Can't detect it. Restarted the apple mobile service, confirmed the usb drivers, uninstalled, downloaded and reinstallled itunes completely. Nada. It worked an hour ago so I know its itunes fault as nothing else has changed. Argh.

I am also having issues. It saidl I needed to update as well, tried it but it failed. Then downloaded iTunes frm the site and on install bonjour service would not activate and the install rolls back and quits.
I am now uninstalling everything and installing all components separately. This is bullshit... |

Good stuff. I built a new machine last winter. Amazing how low the prices are for quality hardware these days - also amazing how well the 45nm chips OC. I just got the cheap E5200 dual core and OC'd it to 3.6 on air with no problems and voltages that don't even exceed Intel's conservative limits
I put windows 7 build 7000 on it. I might have caused myself some trouble though as I'm not sure I'll be home before it expires. Shouldn't be too much of an issue if it has though as I stuck it on its own partition on my raid array. I have everything backed up (more or less), but don't want to re-build the array if I don't have to. Will definitely put RC on it when I get back home. My build is more or less: Asus P5K Deluxe Wifi E5200 @ 3.6ghz Zaleman 9500 cooler (already had it) 4gb OZC Fatal1ty 800mhz ram 3x WD5000YX drives in RAID-0 1x F1 Green drive as backup CM690 case and bundled 550W PSU HD4830 GPU (OC'd past 4850 specs, amazing gpu for the cost) W7 Build 7000 (need to update to RC, but have been away from home for a while now). I don't game except for a little bit of FSX, otherwise its a school work and photo editing/storage box. pics

i've used these system building guides for a few years. usually i follow the 'hot rod' build.
http://www.arstechnica.com/hardware/...09-edition.ars but my 'hot rod' build of a few years ago, blew up! this is a Gigabyte GA K8NS ultra 939: ![]() ![]() to replace this i just went with the 'budget' build. i'm happy enough with the ASUS M3A78-EM. on board everything! after all, in a couple years all of the top of the line stuff is obsolete anyway...i need the $ for motorcycle parts! the machine is back up and running great! with new MOBO, AMD Athlon x2, 4GB memory and a new Pioneer DVD burner. my question is: what is this that blew? it was plugged into a surge protector. kirk out |

That's an impressive failure! Its hard for me to tell what was there before it blew - is a capacitor missing?

But then I read this about real world usage: http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=2969 and this article from a couple of years before: http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=2101 ...and the more I read, the sadder I got ![]() Considering you end up with multiple times the failure points (if one drive goes down you lose the data on all of them) and the real-world performance gain is around 2-3% - not 30+% that "benchmarks" claim... I decided to go for Raid 5 and get the data redundancy instead. YMMV.
