Last night, the girl said to me:

"I want to get a bike and go up there finish a damn race and you race, and we'll bring somebody up to watch the kid for the weekend."

I said "All right."

Funny,,, I was thinking about BRS all day today since I recieved the registration email from Anders. One of the things that came to mind was which one of you will be running it this year,, now it looks like both, cool!! Any idea on what Hensley has in mind?

Absolutely it's possible. It takes a bit more organization, some cash, and some prep, but yes, it's flat-out racing, as fast as you can go, no limits, full-throttle on gravel roads that are legally closed, marshalled, and have medical support standing by just in case, with one bike every minute so it's you versus the road.

Read last year's threadfest noted above and take a look at some of the FAQs on http://rallymoto.com/ to get started. Early registration (for racing) will open to the general public this Saturday night.

Cheers,
Anders

I'm near Utica NY for a spell and if I'm still in NY in September, I'll make up a run up north for this.

Anders,
I signed up to volunteer but want to perhaps do the adv
ride as well... Can a fella do both? And when do you start
handing out assignments for volunteers? I'd like to get a cool
assignment-- maybe volunteer one day and ride the next?

I think that could be done. If we plan on the main ADV ride being Saturday, just make sure that when you volunteer you don't check "Available Saturday", and then you could marshal out on the course for Sunday. :)

You'll see your assignment in your volunteer account once you get assigned to a volunteer team. Usually we put new folks out as marshals on the course, because it's a pretty easy job and you get to see as much racing as possible. Plus, you would get to ride out to your assignment on the race roads. (lead by the Stage Captain, so no worries about getting lost. )

Cheers,
Anders

Sounds good

I'll need to uncheck myself for Saturday availability, then, unless I decide to let Cranky roost me all day on his SE Friday...
