I hate that these haven't caught on in the states like in other parts of the world.
The U500s were/are really amazing trucks. Not for hardcore offroad, but for working trucks. I nearly bought one to use as an implement carrier. They've got hydraulics out the wazoo, a PTO, locking differentials, CTIS, etc. etc.

HEMTT is a bit too big, LMTV (It's an Austrian Steyr) is a nice truck but cannot compete w. a Unimog or ...
... the new BIG BROTHER of the Unimog, the Zetros.

Not Mine

Not mine, but does belong to a fellow ADVer out here in Colo. I'll let him come on here to do the bragging. These pics were taken at an ADV event at his house

When your Unimog gets stuck....

Get hold of a Samil. Scary Magirus-Deutz engined trucks made for the South African armed forces. I've worked with some fabulous heavy duty all-terrain trucks but these things take the cake. There's no stopping them. Now, if they get stuck, be prepared to walk. Your F150 will be a long, long way away.

Oh yeah- Unimogs have a nasty habit of rolling over and killing their occupants. Just sayin'.
