Some here are still riding

Albeit alone, I'm facing left wrist surgery sept 5th. So what do I do today, I get out and ride the Super Tenere in some of Mississippi's finest. Only 170 miles plus minus, it was hot but neither the bike or me minded.

Yup

And to the old black guy who said "yea that b the way to Carthage" right on brother it gets real knarly when the only tracks you see are horse tracks

Good ride with lots of me time. Y'all ride one or three for me in the following weeks.

I left MS Thursday and made a quick trip to the Smokies.

A little interstate run was necessary.

I had planned to stay in Tellico Plains for the night...

...but decided to head on in to NC.

Traffic

I made it to Robbinsville and got a room for the night.

I made my way to the Dragon before it got too crowded

After seeing way to many bikes on the roads, it was time to slip a little deeper into the woods.

I made my way down to North GA to set up camp.

This is a notable accomplishment:

At about 5:00 I decided to stop and set up camp. It had been a long day of riding.

I walked around the camp site for a while, trying to entertain myself. Those of you that know me, know that I am sometimes a little impatient and an idle mind can get the best of me. Somewhere along the way I decided that I didn't feel like staying the night and was ready to go home. I tore down camp and packed everything back up. I made it back home a little before 1:00am.
It was a long day. About 300 miles of twisty mountain asphalt, 100 miles of dirt, and a high speed 450 mile interstate run. All in one day (18 hours).

1400 total miles on the two day trip.

Ok. first i have to say. 850 miles in one day.

second I'm going up there this coming weekend, would you mind telling me where those pictures above are at. I've been on 129 and I did not see that store. We are going to be doing a much slower pace ride and site seeing. that looks like a cool place to stop in. we are also riding highway 28 this year. And Saturday we are going to stay east of Blue Ridge GA. Anything y'all can point us at.

edit found the store. we will pass it looks like maybe both days.

Switch,

I don't know what or where those gravel roads are, exactly. I just meandered around and if I saw a road that looked good on the gps, I would turn on to it. Most of the time they would turn into dirt. I would just ride them out until they hit another major road. Some of them dead ended but were worth riding anyway. For the most part I stayed on the west side of 129 for the dirt. I did make a road loop out 28 to see the Dam and I went to Bryson City and out toward Cherokee.

There is a guy in the GPS section that has a lot of dirt and super moto tracks posted for the area. I followed some of his roads but I didn't stick to any specific plan. I just kind of went wherever I felt like turning.

Got out for a midday ride. A little bit of slabbing up Hwy 49 and soon I was here:

Pretty dusty out there. Probably just as well I was alone today:

Hadn't been here since NYD 2010:

Wound up in Flowers and had to make a call to turn west and then north and loop back around or head east. Ended up going east due to time constraints and took 22 around the north side of Clinton and then cut back to 49.

It was nice to just be rambling around seeing new things or at least things I haven't seen in a few years.

I rode past this bridge,

past this store,

down this road,

and this one.

I crossed this raging river,

and went through a geographical oddity. (it's two weeks from everywhere)

I saw the way to heaven,

But I went the other direction.

I crossed this bridge.

Then I stopped here,

to eat this.

I braved the rapids on the KTM,

then we rested.

I saw this bridge,

so I rode across it.

I crossed another bridge,

to a field of cotton. (and KTM's)

I had to get home, so I took the first train I saw.
