Deck, if you want the actual Garmin route I set up so you don't have to enter it from the google map or convert it, let me know and I'll send it. Just shoot me PM with you e-mail address so I can attach it.

In other amusement, Ham /OTG - I hit my heat shield and header with some BBQ black to clean it up and gave the bike a once-over.

FOund the source of my rattle/chuff noise- the fucking nut holding my front sprocket on was loose! Sprocket had probably a good 1/8" of play side to side.

Tightened up and GTG, but seriously, I'm going to punch faces at my dealership when I go.

Check carefully for damage and have the dealer replace (and pay for - duh) a new sprocket and shaft if necessary.

I hope you are not going to a dealer for sprocket changes.

If you are I am going to punch you in the uterus.

No, did the sprocket when we did the tires back in September. It's been to the dealer 4x... first 'service' at like 4,000. Blown thermostat and then shortly thereafter redoing the topend. Then I brought it in for another service around 9,000.

I'm going to punch faces because beyond not having checked the sprocket, they didn't do shit - the zipties replacing some of the bolts that they lost on me weren't even touched, meaning they sure as shit didn't pull the tank or do anything. I been doing my own oil changes, so I'm not sure wtf they did without even a valve check happening.

Can't see them warrantying the sprocket, since it's aftermarket as it is, I swapped on the 16T.

Harsh words at LI Kawasaki whenever I head through there again, that's for sure. Anyone have a good place to bring the pig if I need service moving forward? The only two local to me that I know of are Crazy Freddy's (uh, no. I only stop there to pick up oil filters.) and LI Kawasaki, which is where I have been bringing it as it's where I bought it.

Cross bay motorsports

they took over the dealership from LI Cycle and marine. The owner is a customer & friend they seem to do decent work.

I think anytime you bring a bike to anyone but Mattocycle you have to check everything they did. That's why many of us travel 200 miles to matto in PA.

plus there's excellent offroad riding nearby.

Offroad July 4th weekend

Anyone up for a NJ Pine barrens ride this weekend?

Fri, sat or Sun.

Mostly dirt roads, Jeep trails & some fire cuts.

must be street legal and have Knobbies.

Mineolamoto on Jericho tpke in Mineola
Chuck Wagon in Farmingdale. (as per reccomendation here, I called him and he is working on my KTM as we speak....great guy and close to home)
Richuitti Motors in Bellport
Island Motorsports/KTM of Smithtown (most un-dealer like dealer I have seen, owner Dave is a great guy)

Those are the ones I can vouch for. I would use Richuitti exclusively if they were closer, but exit 65 is far.

We should compile a database for good shops on the island for us LI folk.

Friday ride..

Nothing crazy, I wanna go up to bear mnt to hit up Rockwells (here), see if i can get me some riding pants for this weekends long ass ride.
I plan on getting up EARLY to ride up there, Don't really have many intentions of venturing around bear since I've never been up there, have no idea where to go (other then the store) and well... need to get home at a decent time to pack and get in some homework before we leave later that night.

but anyone off on Friday? wanna tag along?

There's two spots to hit if you go to Rockwells - one is Rt 6 and the Bear Mountain Bridge, and the other is bear - there's only one road that goes to the top of it. Totaly time invested to ride both of those is like 35 minutes, and soooo worth it. GREAT roads. Riding back home down 9W is also supersweet... I can give you a route to take that puts you straight up the east to get to Rt 6. fast if you want. You gotta cross the river to get to Rockwell anyways, may as well do it on bear bridge instead of something else that's ugly slow and has a toll ;p

You can probably swap those tires by hand almost. We did on the KLR. LET'S USE ANTON'S JETSKI CRANE!!!!!!!!!

I'll probably find her something in the next month or two so she wont be so pissed when I buy a new Tiger or Uly.
If you clean the carbs (or maybe the fuel pump went) on the Hawk she can borrow that bike for the summer, also, it could probably use a chain.

HA! Anton put that sprocket on himself! I think thats the only part of the chain and tire swap he actually contributed to.

I'd so be in if I wasn't gonna be in MA already. Thanks for the link though it does look like it would be worth the ride to check it out. Let me know how it goes.
