sunday brunch

we made it to grizzly manor after topping off our gas tanks

at the restaurant's parking lot waiting for our names to be called

in this tuff economy, seeing a paper plate is a rare sight...

it was hot inside the restaurant and the wait was very long..so we all opted to take it to go

sito's daily workout regimen is working effectively...

tim doesn't look happy getting the kid's meal....

nope, everybody else got their stuff, the rest is ours, Amber left the tents out, cuz she's cleaning them today before putting them away

It's a good thing your wife doesn't surf ADV

When you want some advanced offshore sailing and race trimming lessons, let me know. You supply the beer!

my (short) version RR

i couldn't make the weekend camping trip because of work, but i wanted to make a 'night ride' on friday with some FF's and finish with beers/margaritas at Newcombs.

waited for tbarstow to meet up at the shell station at 6-6:30.
waited til 7 with no tbarstow.

it was hot(90's in La Canada) and i downed a 32 oz Gatorade in 5 minutes.

LET'S GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the Crest action shots (kneed draggers)

yr lady is the shit !!!!

chasing Bob

chasing Cathy

another beautiful Angeles National Forest sunset !!!!

splash in the Lynx cesspool

chasing Bob again

see, Cathy knows whats up. STAND !

she's just holding on pogoing off the back tyre of the katoom

serious helmet action shot

nighttime part deux

Cathy is charging it !!!!!

oops!
recovery mission. we were up at Mill Creek and noticed someone was missing.....

on the silty hillclimb at the top of Lynx, she got sucked in the rut (and no beer was consumed, Rob?!!?!)

c'mon guys, Bob is still a minor, wait til you get in yr tent...

Bob

it got dark all of the sudden

kitchen was closed so this was my dinner.

rear brake lost its fluid, from the fall, hmmmm , dunno.
it was fixed in no time!!!

Cathy rocked it !

buh bye i gotta get home and sleep.

i raced down the Crest with the dude on the X-challenge that is a local of Newcombs.
it was fast !!!! and fun and he took me on the back way outta La Canada on the "shake the pigs" route!

after the sunday brunch, we took a little pavement to get to moonridge

after food, next thing good is dirt....

at this junction, the group splitted into 2. sito, sospe, sopascat, bob and starchaser went straight back to big bear, while randy m, septic, tim, and i headed down to hw38 via clarke's grade, believing it's the shortest way to get back to OC via the most dirt

randym and septic knew the route otherwise we would have gotten lost

the road got narrower

taking a break in the shade and the same time enjoying the view

one of the 2 guys on wr250 we saw on the trail

this is the easy section

tim wrestling the xchallenge

we're almost near the end of the road

sunday afternoon

glad to have a general store in angelus oaks. lots of drinks and ice cream to fight off the summer heat

while cooling off, we talked to this guy in bike shorts, his name is mark. rode his bike from monterrey ca, to san diego, then turn around, head up north and along the roads parallels to the pacific crest trail. his objective is reached vancouver canada.....

talking about true adventurers, here's one....

http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?...il&context=all

the guys are looking for 1 dirt trail in the area before we hit the pavement

there it is...

taking our last break

looking down where the dirt meets highway38

after two hundred miles of on and off dirt, hello pavement...

no 3 digit here

just singing along at 5500 rpm

made it home safely, a smile in my face, and a great memory to remember...
my trip report.....

again, thanks to all who came, helped, contributed, and making this whole trip a success. it was so good, we have to do it again soon.....
