Opinions of Salt Lake City BMW dealer please....

Afternoon all. I hope you are getting a chance to get out and enjoy the weekend. Yesterday I was in Salt Lake City, Utah running some errands and stopped by the BMW dealer there. I must say, the shop is nice and overall the staff was friendly. I am pretty much set on getting a F-650 GS. The salesman I spoke with had a 650 with several modifications I liked. I liked the happy trails grill and underplate combo with the foot rests he had on his bike. I had in fact thought of that modification on the drive down from Idaho and I am glad I found I can buy it already done. Though I didn't take the bike out for a ride, I did like the way it felt when I sat on it in the show room and it seemed from the salesman all the bikes they get in are pretty much loaded. I don't want ABS though and so I will have to order a bike without ABS, I guess. I figure ABS is something more to go wrong, another expense at service time and hell I have gotten this far through life without it, so why do I need it now. Also, I have spoken with other riders that don't like it on their bikes and even some of the reviews I have read on the 650 have misgivings putting it on an off road/on road bike. Plus I can use the $500.00 dollars the ABS option costs to get the happy trails grill and mud guard, plus hand guards.
Though my overall impression of the SLC BMW was favorable, I was warned by a BMW boy I meet last week at the Fat Bottom Biker Rally to watch out, but that is just from one experience. The BMW boy told me the SLC BMW dealer tried to tell him his 4000 mile R-1200 C had water in the transmittion, the BMW boy found this hard to believe because he worked on automobile transmissions for a living. It turns out BMW was totally wrong, but it left a bad taste in the guy's mouth. From what I gathered, the dealer treated him like he didn't know his stuff when he called them on it and from my own field I hate that when it happens.
Again, my first impressions were favorable, but when I am spending around $8500.00 for a new bike I like to get other input. So if you have dealt with the SLC BMW dealer please give me your opinions. Thank you.

Plan A) Buy a nice used low milege 650 and forget about the dealer. ABS can easily be removed and sold.

Plan B) For the same money, buy 2 KLR's

Plan C) For the same money or less buy a new or used KTM 650

Check this link for a Dakar without ABS in Salt Lake. It comes with some nice equipment.

Salt Lake City BMW

I have limited experience, but 2 years ago I was passing through and needed oil and tires. I had no appointment, but they went out of their way to squeeze me in and made me a good deal on a set of tires (although not the tires I might have preferred, these were a super sale deal, which they took the trouble to make me aware of).

Peter,

I've used Salt Lake twice during my trip - the first time when I found myself in dire need of a pair of tyres on Good Friday - they fitted me in, did an oil change, pointed out I needed new rear pads & swapped them at the same time - excellent service. When I was in the area again & needed another oil change, I didn't hesitate - good people

Incidentally, when I bought they tyres, they made no charge for fitting them (they dont charge fitting on tyres they supply). The tyres were pretty reasonably priced, too. The total bill - Oil & filter, rear pads, supply & fit 2 x Tourance, came to just over $400 - which I was very impressed by...
