I realized after 29 years of riding/racing that as much as I love motorcycles I had only tolerated ridding the bikes that I have owned. , untill I bought my GS now I have a hard time getting off the ramp to go to work.

Took me about an hour, in a pickup and just drivin' up the hill. It's steep.

I just received my new bags for the bike, so I'm thinking I'm going to ride up unless somebody needs a cooler or something taken up I could still truck.

I've never really camped before, not since I was traumatized by my family when I was 7 and I swore 'never again'.

So please forgive the noise and tell me what I've got all wrong/missing with my setup:

New Nuvi 500 with Topo.

New Giant Loop Coyote Luggage.

This is the new waterproof version, it's pretty sweet but I'm a little concerned that all the heat shielding is on the right, and my muffler's on the left

I got a smaller 1 gal fuel tank and remounted it sideways to make a little more room.

All this stuff is INSIDE the giant loop.

I was going to get a hennesy hammock, but I couldn't afford it, so I'm setting up a normal hammock I already had.

I got some line and a nylon tarp to go over to protect from wind/rain.

My Big expenditure was a big Agnes 15degree down mummy bag with a blow up thermal pad. I like the pad better than a thermarrest cus it gets WAY smaller.

Small first aid kit on the outside for the bag.

I have a 12v heated jacket, and pants liner, heated gloves and a balaclava. (I don't anticipate using this weekend but I'm trying out my long distance setup so I wanna bring.)

I'm wearing Klim Mojave pants and Revit Jacket. I'd like to take my pressure suit, cus it's better when hot but I can't figure out how not to get cold wearing it. It won't fit under the revit.

pretty complete set of tools, levers, spare front tube, patch kit. (I don't have air yet I figure one of you will)
flashlight, LED headlamp

sweater, sweat pants, shorts, 1 pr jeans, underwear, warm hat. Lightweight sun boonie hat, lightweight shirt, longsleeve t shirt, flip-flops

toiletries/ pills DEET spray,

sunglasses, goggles, helmet, gloves, knee pads, boots, 2 pr riding socks

So Far my only food is a 12pak of Corona Cans. (and Vicoden) Can I buy food up there or do I gotta bring a couple days worth?

I shoulda been asking these questions weeks ago, but honestly I didn't think I was going until today

xymo, nice set up and you have the center of gravity relatively low....

leave the jeans at home.

i brought french rolls, salami, provolone, etc. for lunch on sat. spafxer is going to get some roasted or fried chicken for friday dinner, if you want, i can ask him to get extra for you. there's a general store in kennedy meadows i believe.

i think you will need gas once you get to km and on your ride home. good chance you can buy some from the guys....
