Another shot.

What's wrong with this picture?

This is the old low bridge across the New River in Fayetteville, WV. I rode up on small back roads and even managed to find a gravel road or two. The round trip was 13 hours of riding. Gotta see how many miles it really ended up.

New tag soon.

isn't it one-way??? (aka the other way???) - or does it start after the bridge?

Ding ding ding!

It's one way the other way. My GPS didn't know about the one-way and tried to take me in the wrong way. A nice park ranger turned me back. I crossed the big bridge again following my GPS which took me over to make a left. I went in that way and again found a one-way stretch the wrong way. Hm. I could see on the GPS where there was an intersection not far ahead so I chanced it. That put me on the right road below most of those gravel covered switch-backs. That also put me on the bridge the correct way. I took several pictures and pulled off the bridge to get another shot then realized I took all the pictures with my camera. Of course you say. But I couldn't move them to my phone to post up. I rolled back on the bridge to get some with my phone camera.

Not a whole lotta traffic there.

New tag

Cool looking old farmhouse

The road up to Cherokee Orchard

..and the road back to Gatlinburg

There was almost no traffic yesterday so that road was really sweet.

I'll accept a locked gate pic but not a washed out road pic. You know which road that would be and it's not overly close to this.

Good to see you out harvesting tags Pat. This bridge tag of Cuttle's went so fast that I couldn't hardly keep up with it on the thread... Maybe the activity will improve with the nice weather now...we only have 4 inches of snow here on the hill near th' Patch. We may get out in a week or two.

Thanks Aarrff! I can't believe the ETN tag was placed basically right along my route while I was out placing my tag. I coulda had a drop 'n grab.

I think Cuttle's tag was a great one. Too bad there just wasn't anyone near it for so long. The beauty of the current location is I can drag someone out there to get it if it starts sitting.

So you're gonna let a trace amount of snow keep you from riding? I thought you had a bike with some knobbies on it.

I don't think mtngal's 4wheeler will do too good in this stuff. Just came from a walk and vibrams are marginal That was a great area on the New River and some really great backroads and camping around there. I kept trying to find a chance to go after it but never did make it. My son is in Austin TX now working an intership unitl grad school starts in the fall so may go back out that way before too long for a visit and explore Big Bend area and back up to Utah that I love so much...we'll see. Need to crank some miles on this new Adventure. ( new to me...had 2k on it...demo) I like it so far. Still not sure if I can get a 1000 miles a tank full like you do on that RT though

My tank was nearly full when I left home. I filled up twice and have plenty of gas left from the day. I did 568 miles on that ride. Placing the new tag on that same tank of gas was another 2 hours of riding. I haven't looked at my miles yet. Gotta be close to 250 miles a tank.

Well slap some snow chains on your bike and go get this!

If it sits into touron season nobody wins.
