Ride report on my little Ninja 650R
This may not be the best bike. But it's what I have. I got a small taste of the adv bug and now I am hooked big time. It was a wimpy ride. Only 5400 miles in less than 2 weeks. I did 800 the first day and averaged anywhere from 400-600 miles per day after that...
I basically started in good ol' Southern CA. Went through NV, UT, ID, MT, WY, SD, NB, KN, OK, TX, NM, AZ, and back home. It was about 75% interstate and 25% backroads.
I might caution anyone going over 4 mountain ranges and 400 miles in a day to NOT wear earplugs! It will screw with your equilibrium big time at the end of the day!
Enjoy the pics!
1st stop billings MT. Hill climbing bikes are way cool. I was disappointed in the hills. Most of the bikes are the small 230 CRF's.
Next stop was Yellowstone. The most beautiful place in the world!!
Riding with the bison...
It was F###ing cold. I dont wear cold weather gear. Maybe next time...
Short 250 mile day ride to Grand Tetons.
About 1 hour of rain going through Sturgis.
Next stop was the Badlands in SD. Huge dissapointment for me! If you are from CA. Don't bother. Nothing more than desert landscape. Still the ride was awsome!
And of course MT Rushmore. The ride through Needles Hwy and Iron Mountain was the funnest ride of the trip!!
The rest of the pics are pretty much with my best friend in OK. This was a big trip for me. I am going to get a KLR for my next bike! SW Motech setup is the next thing for my Ninja 650. Soft bags just don't cut it for long hardcore touring....
Hope you enjoyed the pics.

Steady 600 mile days is nothing to sneeze at, glad you enjoyed the trip. Maybe look into Gerbings heated clothing for cold weather, it works great for me.

Nice ride Chris!
Wow...lots of miles on a midsize bike. Nice pics too.
Curious about your comfort level, bike performance/mpg/speeds and your general impression of touring on this type of bike.
Thanks for posting.
