Indian Ocean coas in South Africa

The southern coast of South Africa has a different kind of aura. Kind of more peaceful and relaxed. And even though the ambience in the towns lining he Garden Route becomes more exclusive, and maybe even more cocky as we near Cape Town, the nature itself expresses itself in a rather sedate way.

The frigid waters bashing against the rocks, green fairytale-like hills rising in the background, the sky stretching towards the distant horizon - it must take a hell lot of will to keep all this might at bay. But there you stand on the shore, the waves splashing in front of your feet and the wind tearing your hair, and yet you do not feel overwhelmed. It is not trying to impress you to satisfy its vanity, instead it lets you decide what to think of it…

Sure enough we could not miss Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of the African continent. As exciting as such landmarks are, this one is sadly destined to be the one that marks the true start of our journey home as we will only be moving north from here.

Us in Cape Agulhas - one wants back to the less visited Indian Ocean countries, other to the more "homey" Atlantic Ocean countries.

This is how the most southern point of African continent looks like.

I think BMW should buy you a new suit. Look at the pictures on the first page and the photos above. I hope you feel like you got your money's worth out of it!

Cheers for the invitation, Florin! Let's see how our route will look like when we get closer.

Bought it second hand and it's been doing amazing. My R2 kit has seen UV, wind, rain, snow and sand now over 200 000 kilometers and still in one piece - you see how the red color has faded almost to gray. Not bad for a textile fabric IMO. Only the main zipper I've replaced. CE protectors on both of our kits are starting to crack though and zippers desintegrating, but hoping they will carry us all the way home safely. Fingers crossed.

We don't expect any kind of sponsorship from BMW or any other known manufacturer. Our bike and kits are too old to receive any, plus our nationality on the passports is not marked as US or UK or Germany or France to receive any official support from the "big boys" anyways - the word "Estonian" simply does not ring any of the bells for the corporate marketing people.

Dear tsiklonaut and Karen,
maybe you do not have a US or UK or G or ... passport and yes, your bike is an old one. However, taking in to consideration your courage, and your trips without any BMW truck runing behind you, and the exceptional job that you and Karen are doing in terms of taking all of us with you in a way, your seem to be the top candidate in the mind of each and every one who supports you in your trip.

Keep on travelling, keep on brightening our days with your photos and descriptions and definitely, some day, corporate marketing people will knock your e-mail address offering you what you have dreamed of. I am sure about that. Keep on the fantastic job you are doing and you will hear from them
