Great capture. Great mood. I want a poster-sized version.

Man, those bring back some memories of long over-water flights in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean...

"Mainsail, Mainsail... Reach 91899..."

I still remember one time between stations and the signal propogation sucked so we kept bouncing back and forth trying to check in with both Mali and Colombo but neither could really hear us... then them trying to call each other...each thinking the other was trying to call them. Painful 1/2 hour or so of a constant "Mali, Colombo"..."Colombo, Mali" back and forth (imagine that in your best stereotype Indian call center voice), but kind of funny now...

Mostly digital Satcom and inflight internet these days....damn kids don't know how easy they have it!

Al Mukalla city in Yemen - Arabian architecture everywhere.

Valley of Wadi Dawan, hidden deep inside Yemen - see the complete village built on a boulder!

The same village in Wadi Dawan.

Mosque and surrounding houses in Shibam - called Manhattan of the Desert, in Yemen.

10 storey skyscrapers "Built on Faith", as they say in Shibam. Meaning build from mud! It's hard to believe they stand for centuries!

Shibam, Manhattan of the Desert seen from the distance. Unbelievable how they could build a city like this deep in desert.

Shibam architecture as seen from above.

One of the desert villages in Wadi Hadramawt, Yemen.

All the village (well, looks more like a city!) built out of mud.

Yemeni man in traditional clothing - Jambiya (the dagger) is part of it. But threathening anybody with jambiya or using it means jail in Yemen by law, so it's only part of the traditional clothing.
