Hey all. I went away with a couple of friends this weekend and we stayed at a place that might work well for BYOB.

The location is about 15 minutes from Wellsboro, PA on 287. The facilities are at Ski Sawmill and they have beautiful lodging with all kinds of options. The owners are riders and they're keen on building up the draw for summer events.

At the top of this page they have a rundown on the lodging options on site:

Ski Sawmill lodging

The new bunkhouse and hotel are about 75 yards apart with the small chalet and main Ski lodge within 125 yards. The hotel and bunkhouse both have large (400 sq/ft?) covered porches and indoor common areas (600 sq/ft?). The indoor common areas have sofas/tv's/vending machines etc. the new bunkhouse is enormous and they said it's possible to rent it on a per bed basis.

Primitive camping area is plentiful and, like Galeton, there is plenty of area to set tents up in close proximity to the hotel/bunkhouse. There is a bar that sells 6 packs and food within a long walk (1/4 mile or so) but I'm not sure about the fuel situation. Primitive camping has outdoor showers and I guess they bring in porta pots, but there may be a way to work it out so the campers can use the bunkhouse facilities (there are 4 wings to the bunkhouse with 22 beds and full bathroom/showers each).

They can work out whatever we want including a large tent, if needed (I don't think it's needed as there's so much area near the other facilities to hang out) They also have full cooking facilities in the (rustic) Ski Lodge and can provide an organized meal or two easily.

Drawbacks:

I just took the quick tour, but I did see a couple of issues. The road leading in is all stone, graded gravel, but still stone ( I really hope this isn't a problem for ADV riders but I better put it out there ). There is no AC in the rooms or bunkhouse. It wasn't any problem for us this weekend and the place is at a higher elevation so the nights tend to be cooler anyway. If it's hot, though, that may be a issue for some.

We stayed at the farmhouse (30 or so beds) and had a great weekend. The riding is phenominal in all directions as those of you who've been in that area know

Full disclosure:

I'm friends with one of the guys that works here and I had the pleasure of hanging out with one of the owners this weekend. I don't have any vested interest in this location, but I figured I'd be clear about my relationships here.

Check out the whole web site but I have some pics to come.

Chris,

Ski Sawmill, the gravel isn't a problem as long as it doesn't include a 33% grade

Awaiting your photo's.

No grade, unless you want to try the ski slope

Sorry 'bout the pics. Lack of response led me to think there wasn't the interest level for the site.

Here we go:

Here's the front of the bunkhouse 2 common areas with 4 wings of 20 beds each. The bath facilities are great in this building. They can arrange to rent out 1 or 2 wings by the bed if a certain minimum is met.

Bunkhouse interior:

Terlits in the bunkhouse:

Bunkhouse showers:

More bath stuff:

Lobby area of the bunkhouse:

View from the patio:

View up the slopes (possibly from the front of the hotel) The small Cabin in this pic can be rented, but I never saw the inside:

I'm pretty sure this is the front of the hotel. The buildings look very similar. You can see the bunkhouse just beond the trees. The lots were recently graded with modified stone and I'd imagine that's all good and packed by now:

Lobby of the hotel:

Various hotel room shots:

Remember: The hotel rooms have no A/C. I don't think it'd be a problem because this place is at a pretty decent elevation, but if it's stinking hot???

I believe this is the ski lodge. IIRC, they have a couple of large, "rustic" rooms in there where they can cater meals. I'm sure we could arrange usage as needed for reasonable cost added to their regular fees. I didn't look inside, but I'm sure it's nice. While some of the facilities are older, everything I saw is in good repair and neat as a pin.

The camping area is generally off in a field but there didn't seem to be an issue if folks wanted to camp pretty much anywhere. The next two pics are of the outdoor showers and they bring in porta pots for the campers, but I raised the idea of upping the camping fee a bit so the campers can use one of the bunkhouse bath/shower rooms. That seemed like it could be worked out.

Not much, but it is camping after all.

This is just outside of Morris, PA off route 287 and not far from Wellsboro or Waterville. There is a small bar/eatery within walking distance (1/4 mile or so). I forget how far it is to the nearest gas but I can find out if there's interest in this location.

If I think of anything else, I'll add it on.

That's a nice looking place. Did they give you any prices?
