Got-It

This sign and others in addition to car tire tracks going in and not doubling up going out made me extra cautious
on the approach going down deadend McCarthy Road. A little bit too slow for the conditions.

Not having encountered this car I had a ball exiting back to Stillwater Road.

After dinner I am going out to place the new tag. (6:55 p.m.)

The last part of the road is the most fun.

Nice! I'm glad you liked the placement. I was getting a little worried.

A shot just to prove I've had more than the SV back there.

Trail head has two entrance points, both of which are to the left and right of the Colonial Lodge and Restaurant, a tiny little place up on 41a. The tag is just inside the trail head. Good food and cold draft if you get the chance in at the Colonial. Definitely worth riding around a bit out there, I think I've heard close to thirteen miles of public roads in the woods, just make sure you stay off the single track bicycle stuff.

Finger Lakes National Forest?
How did you know we came down from Auburn?

Finger Lakes National Forest was our first choice, but we wanted to get the Empire State Tag this morning instead of riding all night back from Watkins Glen area. That plan didn't work out so well, as I slept too long and now its raining.

George,

What do the numbers of guys participating in the dirt tag look like south of the fingerlakes.

Would be a nice day ride from the current tag to the Finger Lakes Park...

This weekend is looking beautiful, no reason someone shouldn't ride up and grab this one! or down.
