any of them have a mic input?

My lil fe-280 only has an av out.

The video sucks donkey nuts anyway though so It doesn't bother me.

as a bit of a tangent - does anyone know if the GoPro cameras have a mic input?

I'd like to mount one on the front of the bike but run a cable to a mike under the seat to get my v-twins exhaust sound on the soundtrack not windnoise......

pretty sure the GoPro does not have a mic input - but it does have adjustable sound levels, but that is really a pretty poor substitute

still have not found one

I think your standards or shooting process is flawed. As long as you stay close to the subject matter it should be fine. I have a D10 and it is great. What is your particular application? You might be seeking the ability to rev 12,000rpm out of a pinto station wagon. Why do it?

as far as I know the only one out there would be a GH1 (not exactly small, and nowhere near cheap). Other options are SLR (pentax k7, 5dmkii, etc). You can throw on a rode video mic for directional audio, or a stereo mic. You could take the audio as-is, or to get around the auto gain you'll need a beachtek DXA-5D, just like the 5DmkII would.

Or, you could go with an old 2.1mp Olympus C-2100UZ. :)

G1 is your best option, it was made from the start to do video as well as stills, and has a special lens specifically designed for video.

I know. But technically...it is still a Point & Shoot (meaning it is *not* an SLR). It's just not small. All the other options are legitimate SLRs. :) Well...actually, I should clarify...it's actually ridiculously compact for a camera with interchangeable lenses. But compared to a rinky-dink pocket-cam with a tictac sized sensor, and mickey-mouse optics, it's big.

With the right prime lens on it, it can look like this, and can fit well within the palm of your hand:
