Did I post here allready? Can't find it. But two years back I bought this:

I meant it to be a parts donor for my own GS(X)400, but it was just to good. In euro's 300,-- (back then about 400 and a bit in dollars). Since then the wife uses it, I ride it when I'm not in a hurry and I really enjoy these little bikes.

My old (bought new in 85) 400 is gone now, due to a fire in my shed, but parts of that bike are now part of the red (rear wheel, rear fork, shocks, chain & sprocets, rectifier (?), chain guard, rear brake drum)

Here's my contribution.

1990 ZX600C 11,800 miles $900

Needs starter clutch work and a few odds and ends, including tires, but I should be motoring nicely for under $1500.

Had a friend that had one exactly like that back in the day. Pretty sweet little bike in it's time and it looks like you found a nice one.

Laugh My $580 investment has cost me $2300 so far.

Almost ready for reassembly

It is hard to keep the price down when you begin to add accessories.

The OP intended "bought for less than $1500" in this thread and it's morphed into "bought and made safe/rideable for less than $1500"

It's the same thing for me in all cases, but some people may NOT be posting their $1400 buys because they think it doesn't belong here based on recent posts.

Dorzok posted from WAY out in left field with a failure to provide proper reference, but that's what I suspect he's intending.

Thats what I thought but whats it matter? Buy it for $1400 or buy it for $500 and put $900 into it. You still have a sweet bike for <$1500.

cuz if someone buys for $1400 and imediately sinks $137.88 on tires, $30 on ebay seat, $100 on misc gaskets, $72 on a stator $78.19 on chains and sprockets, $43 on that one missing carb then they might not post up and I want to see them all and it is , after all, all about ME.

I just went through the entire thread, and it is definitely one of the best threads on advrider.com.
Aside from the fact that I way overpaid for my mint 2001 Honda Nighthawk, I now want a few new "bargain bikes" in my garage.

Keep them coming guys (and gals).
