Agree... there isn't a hard and fast rule beyond using common sense here.

I think some people aren't posting their buys because, really, is that $1450 bike that great of a deal if one has to sink $1000 more into a bike to make it safe or rideable? Is it really a "Cheap Bike Challenge" competitor when it was really a more expensive bike all along that wasn't taken care of? This seems to be about being proud of the deals some guys spend the time to find, or luck-out in finding.

Sure, sure, tires and chains need replaced. Much beyond that, though, is that line where someone buys a titled Harley frame for $1400 (which technically qualifies as a bike even if it can't be ridden yet) and then sinks $8000 into it.

I kinda like the common-sense parameters of this thread. In my head that could be a $1500 deal on a bike with about $350 of normal wear replacement parts thrown back into it.

To get back on topic
I bought this for $500, and gave'r some love. Ended up trading a guy for a geo tracker that needed love. I was hesitant on the deal because it needed lots o love. He shook my hand and got the heck out of here before I changed my mind. I put alot of maintenance into the geo and made her look purty and got'r into a nice ride. Now I get people asking me all the time if I will sell it.

I have seen this on several vehicles lately. There was a Discovery Channel vehicle in town at the local steak and shake that had the stickers all over it.

I saw my first ever Zombie Vehicle last year. It was a van driving down I-205 in Portland.
I had originally had another more A-symmetrical Black with Red Dragon paint theme in mind but as I tore the bike down and began changing things I thought that more of a "This bike is not to be taken too seriously" Theme was in order. I got online and found some good options.

I had planned to finish up the bike this week but My Mom and Brother are driving over today from Montana. More picture soon.

I am glad to see that $1500 is not the max limit as I quickly surpassed that with de-chroming, Powder Coating and Ceramic Coating...

I paid 12 or $1300 for this beauty. It was an excellent ride. I enjoyed riding it further out from home base than my DRZ because it was so smooth.

Ive been lookin for a bike that I can put some pavement miles on. Been doin some on my XL , but its a lil hard on the butt.
I found a 90 Kawasaki 454LTD with 6800 miles on it, newer tires, new windshield , had a total service done to it before it was parked 2 years ago. Its a clean bike, it does need a battery, but it fired up ok. Might need a lil stuff run thru the gas to clean it out.
I can get it for 800.00,
I'm thinkin about just jumpin on this soon, but if anyone has any input on the 90 454LTD's,,, it would be muchly appreciated.

No, that's the CB900C (and the 1000).

The 454 is a good bike, I looked real hard at buying one a while ago. The only thing I've found against 'em is there is a lot of consumable parts hoarding, so getting drive belts and things like that seems to be a crap shoot.

The one I test drove had plenty of power, even for me coming off a v-max. Got good mileage, and really didn't vibrate that bad, Plus, it's got that cool 80s look to it.
