I bought a BMW 53k K100RS last November for $875 and a used side case. It hadn't run in a couple of years and the PO had taken it apart a little with plans to fix 'er up that he never got around to. Almost all of the parts were there:
![]() ![]() I gave it a full servicing, replaced the fuel pump and cleaned out the tank, put it back together, rode it around for a few months and then sold it in Feb. for $2,200.

Bought this bike unseen over the phone only knowing it was an old Suzuki for $250. I almost cried when it arrived. $30 later some fresh gas and oil and I was screaming down the highway at 280 kph. 52000k on the od and rolling up on 80000k. She's taken me to the Yukon, Alaska all over BC and few 1000k's of dirt road keeping up to my friends gs1200.

You just need to watch Craigslist, especially in the winter when people are willing to sell cheap.
1979 Kawasaki KZ400B2. Bought for $500 and sold for $850. Pic taken in '08 and yes it really was that nice...just too small for me. In front of it is my '76 CB750 that i picked up for $350. I don't have any pics of that thou.

Latest addition to the fleet....
1983 xs650 "Heritage Special" $350. It was listed incorrectly on Craigslist as a sx650. Runs great.Came with an extra motor and a whole box of manuals and extra parts. Purchased from the original owner.

My 1st bike. A Suzuki A100 1976 (i think) aka "The Gofer"
$400. Picked it up at the Englishtown Swap Meet, had to borrow $200. That bike was fun. Took a lot of shifting to use up all 9 hp. ![]() Sold it at the same swap meet a few years later for $550.

I am a sucker for these bikes. I love browsing craigslist cheap bikes. My garage has no more room at the moment. My wife thinks Im demented for liking such cheap "crappy" bikes, i dont find them crappy at all. I went to look at an 1988 xr600r that was in near new condition. the guy wanted 1200, we were very close to a deal when i offered him 400 dollars cash. At the last moment he said he cant take it.
I totally didnt even need the bike so I am kinda glad that one didnt go through. My dream is to have a large garage dedicated for cheap bikes and have about 15-20 to choose from. A man can dream! |

Free bike are good
I have a 1982 GL1100 Interstate that I got for free. A friend had this in a shed (roof but no door or window in the openings) for 6.5 years. He had a running issue which turned out to be an o-ring blocking a fuel passage between carbs. So far I have less than $1000 total into this including the carb kits ($200), fork seals, 2 speedos (1 used mechanical, now a TrailTech Vapor) and battery, among other little things. It had about 72,000 miles when I got it and is now around 85,000, true mileage unknown due to the speedo problems. I just need to replace the forks as the tubes are beat up and the hardware in the legs is really rusty, and finish the cosmetics. I currently put at least 70 miles a day on it, more if I take it on service calls (which I get paid .40 per mile for, thank you very much
) Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to upload the photos, email me if you want to see it.![]() ![]() Thanks, LDS Geek ldsgeek screwed with this post 09-09-2009 at 12:17 PM Reason: Add pics |

Great idea for a thread!Cheapest was this KLR at $240. Needed a little work but it made it home under it's own power. No pic of the sweet 500 Honda Interceptor I scored for a mere $500 bucks. |

I bought this from a farmer in running but bad shape for $800.00 and put some work into it including a tune up, new seat, paint, fairing and Vetter bags. I think the total came to right around $1500.00. It has 38,000 miles on the clock and runs great!
