Simpson desert tracks.

Gents & ladies, asking for information and guidance ( maybe a good story ) in regards to the Simpson desert area.

I've planned another ride for myself mid-August this year and have decided to visit Haddon corner with the possibility of also checking out Poeppel corner along the way, with support from other follow riders from the Green triangle region.

After last years ride to Cameron corner and surrounding areas, I've made it my mission to visit the three other corners within Australian .

I'll be traveling north to Birdsville along the Birdsville track, so my question being ; Has anyone in recent times travelled to Poeppel corner via K1 & Warburton tk's and whats the current state of the QAA line tk ?

Regards, Slowpoak .

Current conditions .. as of a few weeks ago ..and your leaving in 3 months time... Don't see much point in the question... there may be as much change in the next 3 months as there were in the last 3 years.

Go. Have fun. Take the track conditions off the exploroz site as a guide. Ask the locals for track conditions when you get near there - they'll be more uptodate if anything have drastically altered in the immediate past. If you want to do it, you'll do it no mater the 'track conditions'.

gday slowpoak
the qaa will always be soft and sandy
the warburton should be firmer with fewer dunes to cross and a lot more clay pan
never done the K1 but it runs between the dunes so shouldnt be too bad
It will be heating up by august though
try to do it earlier if ya can

hi, did warburton tk, poepals to birdsville last august, hot , warburton tk easy run (not if there's been rain ) compared to the dunes on simpson tk.
used 10 litres of water over 3 days as hydration was an issue

if you have 4wd support makes a great trip compared to taking all your gear on the bike as we did. having said that I'm an unfit old fart and I was knackered !!

cheers andy9004

dry simpson

Good on ya Mr Slowpoak.

Do a little bit of fitness work before ya go and travel light.

Some links at the bottom....sand gets hot and is harder for bike to stay on top of...rider gets hot and is harder to stay on top of bike....simple.
take ya time

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!"
