Hi, did you manage to sort out all the problems?
How is the effect of the raptor carb, compared to a stock one? |

So... What jetting did you end up with?
I'm also doing this to my 1990 XT600E... I've put a Vito's jet kit. 155/160 and 55 on the extra jet in the left carb. Vito's aftermarket needles in clip position 4. Built a custom air filter airbox in fiberglass. Have a raptor 660 K&N air filter for the Raptor660 I hope tomorrow I'll be able to try it all tomorrow afternoon.. btw, did you fit the choke cable from the raptor? Vando

Well... My 1990 XT600E is working great with the raptor 660 carb conversion!
One important thing... you need to match the mainjets on both carbs as the raptor has #145 on one carb and #140 on the other carb because the Raptor has 5valves (one more than the XT) and that 5th valve has a 30-70 ratio from fuel delivery difference between the two carbs! Hope you got your carbs sorted out! Vando

how the hell are y'all getting those carbs to function with out having the vacuum tubes hooked up to move the slides. those two big ports on the top back of the carps are where it gets the vacuum to lift the slides. with out it the only way it can lift is to just suck air through the carb until it pulls enough to lift them. it should all but stall until it starts to build revs then snap open.
you'll never get it right until you fix this. the throttle does not move the slides it moves a butterfly in front of them that causes vacuum and that in turn pulls the slides up. .

Edeher’s finish jet sizes
This is a great article, I just starting to do the same conversion. Got the Raptor carbs, I live at sea level. Does anyone know what Edeher’s finish jet sizes are….would be awesome to start at that point.

Ok, I just finished my conversion
Quote:
Ok, I just finished my conversion. The jet sizes listed below are good place to start on jetting. I put the Raptor Carburetors on a 1984 XT600 full race. Bored 635cc, 11.5/1 compression, Full race cam, Super Trap exhaust, Hot custom made CDI. This bike was very fast before the carbs now it’s just dangerous, a whole lot of fun! You got to do this conversion! BTW I live in California at 700 feet. Raptor 660 carbs (about $80 on eBay if you’re lucky like I was) Mains (2) 155 ($8 each from Yamaha) Pilots (2) 27.5 ($6 each from Yamaha) Enricher (1) 60 ($6 each from Yamaha) Move the clip on the needle valve down two clicks. (which moves the needle valve up) Motion Pro Twist Throttle Kit (about $30 on eBay) On the 84 XT you will need to cut away the bracket above the carbs, you will have to cut two fins on the right side head for the throttle cable, and modify the rubber intake boots, they will have to be about 1/8 inch shorter and a little bigger. This will get you together, the filters are a whole other experience to deal with.

Raptor carb tuning for xt600
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Let me know when you get the Raptor carbs tuned into your xt 600. I opened up the jet on the secondary stock carb on my Xt 600 and went too rich. Instead of popping due to lean mixture it blubblers around. I agree that the raptor carbs will be a vast improvement due to avalibility of tune up parts. I cannot find another main jet for the rt stock carb. Not available anywhere. Hey do you have one? let me know. I was thinking about making a manafold that would y the two ports into one large sort of like a vw. And put one large Mikuni on it . Seems that Suzuki and other manufacturers went back to single carbs. I like simplicity. And reliability on the trail.
