Streetpilot start up problem???

Howdy All......Just bought a used 2720 streetpilot locally here and after starting out fine....Now when it goes to start up it reads...Loading maps, the redload bar makes it about halfway across and then it quits. Doesn't turn off just has the garmin screen.....Tried three different power cords and several different power sources with no joy. Any ideas?...What are my avenuesto fix? I do have all the original codes/paperwork etc.....Do I have to return it? Is it worth it? Any helpis much appreciated in advance...
